What happened to the free offer?
Epic announced on December 11, 2025, that Hogwarts Legacy would be free through December 18 at 11 AM ET as part of its Holiday Sale. That was a limited-time promotion, not evidence of an ongoing giveaway. Epic’s current Hogwarts Legacy product listing presents the Windows base game as a paid purchase. Its price and promotion status can vary by region and change over time.

What the Epic listing includes
Epic lists the game for Windows as a single-player, open-world action RPG developed by Avalanche Software and published by Warner Bros. Games. Set in the 1800s, it casts the player as a Hogwarts student who encounters an ancient secret. The listing describes exploration, character customization, potion crafting, spell casting and talent upgrades.
The store listing also identifies the Haunted Hogsmeade Shop Quest, an additional dungeon, a Shopkeeper’s Cosmetic Set and an in-game Hogsmeade shop, along with Photo Mode, Talent Resets and other cosmetics. These are listing details, not an indication that the game is currently free.
