To evolve Applin in Pokémon GO, use 200 Applin Candy and 20 of the matching Apple: Tart Apples for Flapple, Sweet Apples for Appletun, or Syrupy Apples for Dipplin. Dipplin can later evolve into Hydrapple with 400 Applin Candy and a buddy task.

The Apple type determines the direct Applin evolution: Tart for Flapple, Sweet for Appletun, and Syrupy for Dipplin. Hydrapple is a later evolution from Dipplin, not a fourth direct Applin choice. How to evolve Applin
- Collect 200 Applin Candy and 20 Apples of the type for the evolution you want.
- Open Applin’s Pokémon details page and select the evolution option associated with the matching Apple.
- Confirm the evolution. Check the required Apple type and cost on the evolution screen before committing.
No physical product is needed; these evolutions use in-game items and, for Hydrapple, an in-game buddy task.
How to get Tart, Sweet, and Syrupy Apples
Apple collection methods in the official announcements are tied to specific events, not established as permanent year-round sources. For example, during Sweet Discoveries (April 24–29, 2025), apples could appear in the wild, with an increased chance at PokéStops with active Mossy Lure Modules. Tapping an apple could award a Sweet Apple, Tart Apple, or a Pokémon encounter, potentially including Applin. Details are in the event announcement.

During the October 10–16, 2025 Harvest Festival, apples had an increased chance to appear at PokéStops with active Mossy Lure Modules; tapping them could award Sweet, Tart, or Syrupy Apples, or a Pokémon encounter, according to the official announcement.
The latest cited event, Harvest Festival: Applin Picking, ran September 29 through October 5, 2026, and had ended by October 8, 2026. During that event, Mossy Lure Modules attracted only apples; branching Timed Research offered a choice of Tart, Sweet, or Syrupy Apples; and reaching GO Pass Rank 1 increased the chance that caught Applin would hold an Apple. Should you choose Flapple, Appletun, or Dipplin?
Choose according to the Apple type you have and which evolution you want to collect. The official announcements establish the evolution costs and branches, but do not compare their battle performance or identify a best choice; a performance recommendation would need separate, current evidence.

Evolving Dipplin into Hydrapple
After evolving Applin into Dipplin, make Dipplin your buddy and catch seven Dragon-type Pokémon. You will also need 400 Applin Candy to evolve Dipplin into Hydrapple, as described in the 2025 Harvest Festival announcement.
