Which Sims 3 version should Windows players have?
EA’s support guidance recommends that Windows players on version 1.67 or earlier update to version 1.69, provided the game and packs are registered to their EA account. Keep the reported update’s build number separate from that general recommendation. All Tech Nerd identifies the reported patch as 1.67.47.024017, while a January 2025 community thread refers to an EA App patch as 1.69.47. EA’s support page recommends 1.69 for eligible Windows players but does not confirm either exact build as the specific December 2025 update. Those references are not enough to establish a single definitive build number for the reported fix. The community thread is not an official patch note.
Is the update available on Steam?
The December 2025 report says the update was available through EA Play for Windows and that Steam availability was unconfirmed. EA’s product page lists The Sims 3 for PC and Mac and names the EA app, Steam, and Origin among platforms, but those general listings do not confirm that this particular update reached each storefront. What should Mac players install?
EA describes The Sims 3 64-bit Mac release as a compatibility version, not a remake or remaster. It is a native macOS app and supports Apple’s Metal graphics API. EA says it requires Metal and macOS High Sierra 10.13 or later; macOS Catalina 10.15 and later support only 64-bit applications, so players on those systems need the 64-bit version.

Will the update break mods or custom content?
The available information does not establish that this update breaks mods.
