The Splitgate 2 Open Alpha began on February 27, 2025 at 9 a.m. Pacific Standard Time (PST), or 17:00 GMT. It ended on March 3 at 9 a.m. PST / 17:00 GMT. The event is over; it was a free, no-invitation preview for Steam, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
When did the Splitgate 2 alpha start and end?
The Open Alpha started February 27, 2025 at 9 a.m. PST (17:00 GMT), according to PlayStation’s event announcement. Play ended at 9 a.m. PST / 17:00 GMT on March 3, 2025. 1047 Games advertised the event as running February 27 through March 2; the March 3 time was the early-morning closing boundary after that final advertised day. The developer’s announcement and PlayStation’s schedule give the dates and times.
How could players access the alpha?
During the event, players could download the free alpha on a supported platform without signing up or getting an invitation. 1047 Games said, “No need to sign up, just portal into the action on your gaming system of choice Feb 27 to March 2.” The announcement covered these platforms:
- PC: Steam
- Console: PlayStation 5
- Console: Xbox Series X|S
The alpha is no longer available as an access opportunity. These instructions describe the 2025 event, not a current download.

What was included in the Open Alpha?
The limited pre-release preview featured crossplay across PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Its content included Multi-Team Portal Warfare, an 8v8v8 mode on a large map, as well as new arena maps, weapons and gear. 1047 Games also described changes informed by community feedback. Those details apply to the 2025 alpha build, not necessarily later versions of the game.
How does the alpha fit into Splitgate 2’s timeline?
The Open Alpha was followed by the game’s full launch on June 6, 2025, and a Steam beta playtest in November 2025. These later milestones are documented on Splitgate’s official news page and its Steam news page. They do not establish that a new alpha or playtest is available in October 2026. Check official Splitgate channels for any newly announced test rather than relying on the expired 2025 schedule.
