On Windows, the main Fortnite executable is FortniteClient-Win64-Shipping.exe, located in FortniteGameBinariesWin64 under the Fortnite install folder. If Epic Games Launcher installed Fortnite to its default location, the full path is C:Program FilesEpic GamesFortniteFortniteGameBinariesWin64FortniteClient-Win64-Shipping.exe. Many players chose a different drive or folder during setup, so the path below may need adjusting.
Check the default install path first
Epic’s Windows support instructions list C:Program FilesEpic GamesFortnite as the default Fortnite installation folder. Open File Explorer and go to that location. If the FortniteGame folder is there, the executable is inside it.

Step-by-step: find the executable
- Open File Explorer.
- Browse to the Fortnite install root. Start with
C:Program FilesEpic GamesFortnite. - Open
FortniteGame, thenBinaries, thenWin64. - Select
FortniteClient-Win64-Shipping.exe. - If those folders are not at the default location, open the Epic Games Launcher, go to the Library, and locate Fortnite’s installation directory. Use that folder as the install root, then repeat steps 3 and 4.
When the default path does not exist
Epic’s install instructions say the player chooses the installation location during setup, so the default root is a starting point rather than a guarantee. Epic’s troubleshooting guidance for Fortnite that shows as running in the Launcher but does not open uses a different-drive example and the relative path Fortnite > FortniteGame > Binaries > Win64. The subfolder structure is the reliable clue; the drive letter and top-level folder can differ.
Files in the same folder
The Win64 folder can contain several executables with similar names. Epic’s instructions name them, but do not describe their individual roles, so treat the table below as a naming guide rather than a function guide.

| File name | Use when |
|---|---|
FortniteClient-Win64-Shipping.exe |
An application, setting, or file picker asks for the main Fortnite executable. This is the one to select. |
FortniteClient-Win64-Shipping_BE.exe |
Named in Epic’s instructions as a separate file in the same folder. Not the file to select for the main executable. |
FortniteClient-Win64-Shipping_EAC.exe |
Named in Epic’s instructions as a separate file in the same folder. Not the file to select for the main executable. |
FortniteLauncher.exe |
Named in Epic’s instructions as a separate file in the same folder. Not the file to select for the main executable. |
Do not confuse it with the Epic Games Launcher
When a file picker asks for a Fortnite executable, avoid EpicGamesLauncher.exe. Epic’s support article gives it a separate path, and it launches the Store client rather than the game itself.
Change the default location for future installs
To change where the Launcher installs new games, open Download Manager, select Download Settings, and under General choose Change. This setting applies to future installations. Epic’s Launcher support article does not state that it moves an existing Fortnite installation, so an installed copy stays where it is unless you reinstall.

Scope of this guidance
These paths apply to Fortnite on Windows, as described in Epic’s support documentation. They do not establish equivalent file locations on consoles or mobile devices, and they do not reveal where Fortnite sits on a particular PC. Epic’s documents provide a default directory and examples, so the Launcher’s installation directory is the authoritative check.
Fortnite’s default installation path is not a fixed guarantee, so use the Launcher or the folder structure to confirm the location on your own machine.

- An Epic Games account is required to redeem an Epic Games Store Card code
- If playing on a console platform (PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Nintendo Switch or Mobile) you need to link your Epic Games account to that gaming platform (one time) to redeem your gift card code
- The 16 digit code on the back of the card WILL NOT work if redeemed directly through your gaming platform (PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Nintendo Switch, Mobile, etc.)
- Note: Nintendo devices do not support Fortnite Shared Wallet, so V-Bucks purchased using your account balance will not show up on your Nintendo device. However, if you purchase items in the web Item Shop — or another platform where you play Fortnite — those items will be available in your Locker across all platforms.

If the path is still missing, verify the game files through the Launcher and then repeat the steps above. The executable name stays the same whichever drive Fortnite is installed on.
