A 2022 whistleblower account alleged that outsourced QA firm Quantic Lab misrepresented the experience and size of its team working on Cyberpunk 2077 and set daily bug-report quotas that encouraged low-priority findings. Quantic Lab disputed the account. Later interviews with former employees described similar concerns, but the reporting does not prove a scam or show that Quantic Lab alone caused the game’s troubled launch.
What did the whistleblower claim?
In June 2022, gaming channel Upper Echelon Gamers said an anonymous source provided confidential QA files, HR paperwork, and workflow charts. The channel said it believed the source was real and that extensive evidence supported the claims. VGC reported the channel’s account, but did not independently authenticate the underlying documents in its article. VGC’s report described the allegations as claims, not established findings.

- Daily quotas: The account alleged a target of 10 bug reports per tester per day, potentially rewarding report volume over severity.
- Team size and training: The account claimed the Cyberpunk team grew from 30 to 60 in summer 2020, with new hires given only weeks of training.
These figures and descriptions come from the whistleblower account as reported by VGC. They are not independently established headcount or quota statistics, and the anonymous source was not named.
Did later reporting support the allegations?
In 2023, PC Gamer interviewed multiple former Quantic Lab employees who described related staffing and quota concerns. One person who worked on Cyberpunk 2077 for Quantic said, “From a team of 30 people … I think only 10 of them had experience on QA.” That is an anonymous employee’s estimate, not a verified personnel audit.

Former employees told PC Gamer that testers sometimes filed low-impact graphical issues to meet daily targets, while more serious problems—including main-quest blockers—made it into the final release. Their accounts add support for the concern that quotas could distort priorities, but they remain interview-based reporting rather than a public, independent audit of Quantic’s work. PC Gamer’s 2023 report also says Quantic was one of several QA resources involved, alongside QLOC and CD Projekt’s in-house team.
What did Quantic Lab say?
Quantic Lab CEO Stefan Seicarescu called some statements incorrect and said the report showed a lack of understanding of how large-budget game testing works. In a statement reported by PCGamesN, he said: “All our customer agreements are confidential, but in general, global publishers are working with several QA outsourcing companies, not depending solely on one, in addition to internal QA resources at developer level in most cases.”

That response provides the company’s position on outsourced QA arrangements; it does not independently resolve each allegation about staffing, headcount, or quotas. PCGamesN’s coverage reported the statement.
Was Quantic Lab responsible for Cyberpunk 2077’s bugs?
The available reporting does not establish that Quantic Lab alone caused the game’s launch problems. It identifies Quantic as one contributor among multiple QA teams, while CD Projekt retained control of the game and the decision to release it. A former Quantic employee told PC Gamer, “I wouldn’t blame Cyberpunk on [Quantic], CDPR still released the damn thing,” adding that Quantic “contributed.”

That distinction matters: allegations about the quality or incentives of one contractor’s testing are not proof that it caused every bug, nor do they transfer responsibility for a publisher’s release decision. The sources do not establish a proven scam or a definitive allocation of blame.

Quality assurance involves more than finding and counting defects. Testers need to investigate how a problem occurs, reproduce it reliably, assess its impact, and communicate it so developers can act. A quota can create pressure to maximize submissions, but the reporting does not establish how every reported issue was evaluated or how much time was available to resolve it.

In a 2025 company interview, CD Projekt Red QA Gameplay Acting Lead Bartosz Łoboda described the limits of testing complex systems: “At some point you just need to accept that this is as far as we go.” His comments explain why testing cannot guarantee that every issue will be found or fixed; they do not provide evidence about Quantic Lab’s specific work on the 2020 release.
