In the animated series Sonic Underground, Sonia, Sonic, and Manic are described as triplets. That relationship belongs to the show’s continuity, not a general account of the video-game series.
Who is Sonic’s sister in Sonic Underground?
Her name is Sonia the Hedgehog. A secondary profile from Sonic Shop, published July 17, 2026, identifies Sonia as Sonic and Manic’s sister in Sonic Underground and describes the three as triplets. So “Sonic’s twin sister” is a common shorthand, but “triplet sister” is the more accurate description for this show.

Is Sonia Sonic’s sister in the games?
Keep the answer tied to Sonic Underground. Sonic Shop describes the television series as separate from the video games, so its family relationship should not be presented as a general fact about game continuity. SEGA’s Sonic Channel character catalog provides profiles for characters in the Sonic series, but Sonia does not appear in the catalog listing reviewed here. That omission is limited evidence about the catalog; it does not establish that she has never appeared in any licensed game-related material.
Is Sonia the same character as Amy Rose?
No. Sonic Shop distinguishes Sonia from Amy Rose: Sonia is the sister character in Sonic Underground, while Amy is associated with the games. They are separate characters, not two names for the same hedgehog.
