If you’re shopping in the U.S., the Nintendo Switch 2 price increase is no longer something to beat: Nintendo’s new $499.99 MSRP took effect on September 1, 2026, up from $449.99. That is the manufacturer’s suggested price, not a guarantee of what a retailer currently charges. Other markets changed on different dates and have different local prices.
What is the Switch 2 price in the U.S. now?
Nintendo of America raised the U.S. suggested retail price of the Switch 2 system from $449.99 to $499.99 effective September 1, 2026. The increase is $50. Nintendo said the original Nintendo Switch price was not changing. See Nintendo of America’s price revision notice.

The $499.99 figure is the U.S. MSRP; it does not establish a particular retailer’s current price, stock, or whether a promotion is available. Check the total shown by the seller, including tax and shipping, before deciding whether a listing is a good value.
How did prices change in other markets?
Nintendo announced changes in several other markets, but the dates and tax treatment vary. These are the prices in Nintendo’s notices, not a complete worldwide schedule or a direct after-tax comparison.

The U.S., Canada, Europe, and Japan figures come from Nintendo’s May 8, 2026 regional notice. Australia and New Zealand figures come from Nintendo Australia’s support notice. Nintendo said other areas might also make price changes, so the markets listed here should not be read as an exhaustive global schedule.
Should you buy now or wait?
For U.S. shoppers, buying now cannot avoid the announced September increase; the higher MSRP is already in effect. The practical question is whether a current retailer listing or bundle is worth its total price. Compare the system-only price with the package contents you would actually use, and check current retailer availability directly: Nintendo’s MSRP and bundle announcements do not establish live deals or stock.

Nintendo reported selling 19.86 million Switch 2 units through the end of its fiscal year ended March 2026. That is a historical company-reported sales figure, not evidence of current availability or a forecast of future prices. Nintendo has not announced a further U.S. increase in the cited price notice, and the figures here do not support predicting one.
What caused Nintendo to raise the price?
Nintendo described the revision as a response to “various changes in market conditions” it expected to have medium- to long-term effects. In the company’s fiscal-year results briefing, president Shuntaro Furukawa said, “This change in hardware pricing was not due to any one specific factor.” He cited memory and other component prices, foreign-exchange trends, oil prices, tariffs, and broader market conditions. This is Nintendo management’s explanation, not independent confirmation of how costs will evolve. Read Nintendo’s fiscal-year results briefing.

Do the U.S. bundles offer better value?
Nintendo announced two U.S. bundles against the new $499.99 system MSRP. Their stated savings compare Nintendo’s suggested prices for the items bought separately; they are not discounts on the console alone. Actual retailer prices and availability can differ, and Nintendo said bundle availability is while supplies last.
| U.S. package | Announced price | Included | Nintendo-stated savings |
|---|---|---|---|
| Switch 2 + Mario Kart World | $549.99 | System, full game download, and 90-day Nintendo Switch Online Individual Membership | $37.98 versus suggested prices for the items separately |
| Switch 2 + Nintendo Switch Sports Resort | $529.99 | System, game, and 90-day Nintendo Switch Online Individual Membership | $27.98 versus suggested prices for the items separately |
The prices, contents, and savings are from Nintendo’s U.S. bundle announcement. Choose a bundle based on whether you want its game and membership; compare its current retailer price with the system-only option and the value of those extras to you.
