Bandai Namco announced signups on January 10, 2025, so the original “you can now sign up” headline no longer describes an available opportunity.
What was the Nightreign Closed Network Test?
Bandai Namco described the test as a limited preview of ELDEN RING NIGHTREIGN, a standalone multiplayer co-op PvE game set in the ELDEN RING universe. Its January 10, 2025 announcement said three players could team up, choose Nightfarers, explore an ever-changing map, fight increasingly challenging bosses, and ultimately face the Nightlord. The official European participation rules characterized the test as a controlled evaluation of network infrastructure stability and performance. Participation was free and did not require a purchase. Those rules describe the test’s purpose, not a way to access the released game. See the European participation rules.
Which platforms were listed, and what happened with Steam?
Bandai Namco issued a correction after Steam appeared on the initial registration form in error. The publisher asked people who had selected Steam to update their platform choice by January 20, 2025, at 5:59 a.m. Pacific time. That notice establishes that Steam was mistakenly listed and that affected registrants were asked to correct their choice; it does not establish any further eligibility details. Does buying Nightreign grant access to the test?
No. The network test was a closed, time-limited evaluation that took place in February 2025; buying the full game does not grant access to that expired test. FromSoftware later announced that the full game would release on May 30, 2025. The released game and the network test are separate: one is the game product, the other was a limited preview for network evaluation. See FromSoftware’s release-date announcement.
