Not every ARC Raiders material should go into the recycler. Recycling is the right move for surplus items, but an item that feeds a recipe, a quest or a workshop upgrade you still need should stay in your stash. Check each item’s own card before breaking it down. Recycle only what you no longer need, and if you want the most components back, do it in Speranza rather than in the field.
Recyclable does not mean expendable
An item can list a recycle output and still be an ingredient you will need later. Breaking it down turns it into components, which removes it from any recipe, quest or workshop chain that depends on it. The decision is therefore about your current goals, not about whether the game allows recycling.
How to check an item before you recycle it
- Open the item’s details. In your inventory or stash, select the item and read its description. The recycle output is listed there, and the same details panel is where field recycling is started. Embark’s Help Center on field crafting confirms that field recycling can be done from item details.
- Look for recipe, quest or workshop uses. If the item is used for something you still plan to craft or upgrade, keep it. The BrokenBuilds recycle guide recommends keeping items marked as used for those purposes.
- Decide whether you need the components. If the item is surplus and you want the components it returns, recycle it.
- Handle non-recyclable trinkets separately. The BrokenBuilds guide identifies diamond-tagged trinkets as items that cannot be recycled, so they belong in your sell pile.
- If you are unsure what you need, check sources first. Use the Acquire Resources flow described below before recycling anything you might have to craft with later.
Keep, recycle or sell: a quick reference
| Item situation | Action | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| Used in a recipe, quest or workshop upgrade you still need | Keep | Recycling removes it from the chain |
| Surplus item with a recycle output you want | Recycle | You receive the listed components |
| Diamond-tagged trinket | Sell | Non-recyclable, per the BrokenBuilds guide |
| Item whose future use is unclear | Check Acquire Resources before deciding | Shows which sources are currently available for missing materials |
Where to recycle: Speranza or the field
Field recycling is available, but it returns less. Speranza is the better option when you want full value from a recycle.
| Method | Reported return | Source and date |
|---|---|---|
| Recycling in Speranza | Full returns, as reported by the community loot guide | ARC Raiders Hub, Loot (publication date not listed) |
| Field recycling | 50% of usual components, as reported by the community loot guide | ARC Raiders Hub, Loot (publication date not listed) |
The 50% field figure comes from a community reference, not from an official Embark statement. Treat it as a comparison of the two methods, not as a precise rate for every item.

Worked example: the Battery
The ARC Raiders Hub Battery entry labels Battery an uncommon Topside Material that is used in a wide range of items. Its listed recycle output is Metal Parts. The same entry lists three recipes that use Batteries: Energy Clip, Medium Shield and Jolt Mine.
A Battery is therefore a case where the right rule is to recycle surplus Batteries after you have checked your plans, not to recycle every Battery you find. Because this is a community item reference, confirm the recipe requirements on the live item card before you act on them.

Find missing materials with Acquire Resources
Embark’s April 4, 2026 update adds an Acquire Resources button to the crafting screen. It shows the sources currently available for a material you are missing, including recycling and purchases from Celeste. Embark’s UI/UX Team explained the change this way: “The keyword here is available: if a material is obtainable through your current options, you’ll see it, and you can act on it immediately.” The update says it responds to players who reported that they were “spending too much time crafting.”
Use this before recycling a material you may need. If the button shows that the material can be bought or gathered, you can keep the item you already have and avoid spending it on components you could have found another way.

What these figures do and do not cover
- Recycle outputs, recipe uses and return rates can change with game updates. Check the item card in game before acting on any list, including the one in this article.
- The Embark Help Center field crafting page was last updated October 27, 2025. The BrokenBuilds guide was updated June 27, 2026. The Speranza and field return comparison comes from a community reference with no publication date.
- Community guides are not a complete official item catalog, so no source here lists every safe-to-recycle item. Use the decision steps above to judge each item individually.
