The short answer: sign in to Steam Support, open My Account > Data Related to Your Steam Account, choose External Funds Used, and read the TotalSpend row. That figure is Steam’s account-level total of external funds applied to your account. It is not a lifetime record of everything you have spent on games, and it does not include purchases made elsewhere. The page is the easy part. Whether you want to see the number is up to you.
How to find your TotalSpend figure
- Sign in to Steam Support with the account you want to check. The account-data page redirects to the Steam sign-in screen if you open it without an authenticated session, so you cannot read the figure from a logged-out browser.
- Open My Account, then select Data Related to Your Steam Account.
- Choose External Funds Used.
- Read the TotalSpend row. This is the headline number most people are looking for.
Steam’s own description of this page says the values are calculated when needed and may not always be current. If you have just made a large purchase, expect the total to lag slightly behind your most recent transactions.

What TotalSpend actually measures
The External Funds Used page covers external funds applied to a Steam account. That includes money spent on Steam Store purchases and money added to the Steam Wallet. Read the figure with that scope in mind:
- Included: external funds spent on Store purchases and funds loaded into the Steam Wallet.
- Not included: purchases from other retailers, physical hardware, subscriptions or services bought outside Steam, and anything else that never passed through your Steam account.
The two supporting fields that appear alongside TotalSpend are described as follows. These definitions come from a Steam Community thread that quotes the account-data page, not from a view of the page itself, so treat the wording as the best available description rather than guaranteed current text.

Checking individual transactions
TotalSpend gives you a single running number. To see what makes it up, use Steam’s Purchase History, which is available in two places: the Steam Help Site and the Steam Client. In the Steam Client, the path is Account Details > View purchase history. Steam says the purchase history can be reviewed in either location.
Why the totals may not match your bank statement
If the sum of your Steam purchase history does not match a card statement or invoice, the gap is often not a Steam error. Steam notes that banks in some countries add processing fees, taxes, or currency-conversion charges. Those costs appear on your bank side, so Steam directs you to your payment provider for questions about the difference.

Comparing the two views
The two places you can check do different jobs. They are not alternatives to each other.

Steam’s statement about recurring charges
If you see unexpected recurring charges on your statement, Steam’s Support page titled Unrecognized Charges says: “Valve has no recurring fees or monthly charges unless otherwise explicitly stated as part of an online game subscription.” The same page says Steam charges are for games, DLC, or in-game items and currency. A recurring charge that does not match one of those categories is worth checking against your purchase history and your bank’s records.

If the figures look wrong
- TotalSpend seems low: Check whether the purchases were made from another account. Each Steam account reports its own totals.
- Purchase history does not match your statement: Compare currency, dates, and any fees or taxes your bank added. Contact your payment provider for those differences.
- The page keeps sending you to sign-in: Confirm you are signed in to Steam Support with the same account you are checking, then reopen the page from My Account.
- Steam’s navigation labels look different: Steam changes its interface from time to time. Use the account-data section of Steam Support and look for the External Funds Used entry.
Keep in mind that the page labels, field definitions, and totals may change. The steps above reflect Steam’s own wording as of this article’s publication date.
Finding your total takes about a minute. Reconciling it against your bank is the slower part, and for most people the purchase history answers that question faster than the summary does.
