The “ornate clamp” is the Diving Bell door’s inspection text in Hollow Knight: Silksong, not the name of the item that opens it. To get through the door, you need the Diving Bell Key from Ballow. The Diving Bell and key walkthroughs on the community wiki and key page describe that progression.
What is the ornate clamp in Silksong?
When Hornet inspects the Diving Bell door, its description reads: “An old diving bell. Its door is shut tight by an ornate clamp.” The line describes the door; it does not establish an inventory item called Ornate Clamp. The community wiki reproduces the inspection text on its Diving Bell page.
The item used to unlock the door is the Diving Bell Key. Keep the two names distinct: the clamp is in the door description, while the key is the progression item.
How to get the Diving Bell Key and open the door

- Reach Deep Docks. The Diving Bell is in this area, which the wiki says becomes accessible after defeating Forebrothers Signis & Gron. The bell itself cannot be opened until Act 3, according to the Diving Bell walkthrough.
- Advance the relevant objective. Continue the progression that brings Ballow to the control room above the bell.
- Speak with Ballow. Ballow gives Hornet the Diving Bell Key there. The Diving Bell Key page describes the key and its handoff.
- Return to the Diving Bell door and use the key. The key unlocks the door, opening the route to the Abyss below Deep Docks’ magma layer.
Is there a separate Ornate Clamp item?
Some third-party guides describe a separate Ornate Clamp pickup and a clamp-based bell upgrade, but those claims are not corroborated by the cited Diving Bell and key walkthroughs. The available community-wiki pages establish the door description and the key route; they do not establish a separate clamp item or its location. Treat those pickup and upgrade claims as unverified rather than searching for them as the way to open this door.
