All three Zonaite Armor pieces in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (Nintendo Switch) are in sky chests. The Zonaite Helm is on Lightcast Island, the Zonaite Waistguard is on Zonaite Forge Island behind Yansamin Shrine, and the Zonaite Shin Guards are inside the sphere puzzle tied to Sky Mine in the North Akkala Sky Archipelago.
Where to find each Zonaite Armor piece
The set has three pieces. The table below gives the location and approach for each, followed by a route description for each piece.
| Piece | Location | Approach | Puzzle type |
|---|---|---|---|
| Zonaite Helm | Lightcast Island, Tabantha Frontier sky | Zora Armor helps with the sky waterfall climb | Light-and-mirror puzzle |
| Zonaite Waistguard | Zonaite Forge Island, behind Yansamin Shrine | Zora Armor helps with the waterfall; Ice Fruit or Splash Fruit on lava | Lava platform, then Ascend into a nook |
| Zonaite Shin Guards | Sphere island above Rist Peninsula, North Akkala Sky Archipelago (Sky Mine) | Sky Mine launch mechanism and a large block | Sphere puzzle with an accessible opening |
Zonaite Helm: Lightcast Island
Reach Lightcast Island in the Tabantha Frontier sky and complete the island’s light-and-mirror puzzle. The chest is near the end of the route. Zelda Dungeon’s walkthrough has you use Ascend onto the platform above the final mirror target, which opens the way to Ga-Ahisas Shrine. GameSpot notes that Zora Armor, which you get during the Lanayru regional main quest, lets Link climb the sky waterfall that leads to the island.
Zonaite Waistguard: Zonaite Forge Island
The Waistguard chest sits behind Yansamin Shrine on Zonaite Forge Island. GameSpot’s route uses an Ice Fruit or Splash Fruit on the lava to create a platform. From there, use Ascend to climb into the small nook that holds the chest. Zora Armor is again needed for the waterfall approach to the island.

Zonaite Shin Guards: Sky Mine sphere
The Shin Guards are in the lower level of the sphere island associated with Sky Mine, above the Rist Peninsula in the North Akkala Sky Archipelago. The route uses the Sky Mine launch mechanism and a large block to interact with the sphere puzzle. Once the sphere is positioned, enter the accessible opening to reach the chest.
Guides describe this puzzle with different levels of orientation detail. If the opening is not obvious, check the map coordinates for the sky island or follow a visual guide, and compare your position against the chest’s location before committing to a launch.

- Ultrahand: Using the new Ultrahand ability, Link can pick up, move, and rotate almost any object, and can even attach objects together to create bridges, vehicles, and more!
- Fuse: Magically fuse almost any object to Link’s current weapon, shield, or arrow to increase durability, damage, or even add a new effect. Experiment with lots of different combinations to come up with surprising—and sometimes hilarious—results!
- Ascend: Add a new dimension to your exploration with Ascend, which gives Link the ability to pass through solid objects above him. Rise up through ceilings, hillsides, and even certain enemies to create seemingly impossible shortcuts.
- Recall: Use Recall to make objects in motion move backward through time, letting Link ride fallen boulders skyward, recover thrown weapons, or send projectiles back where they came from.
What the set does
Each Zonaite piece grants Energy Up, which reduces the energy drain of Zonai Devices. Zelda Dungeon reports a set bonus of Energy Recharge Up once all three pieces are enhanced to level two or higher. The guides cited here do not give a numeric percentage for the energy reduction, so treat the effect as qualitative.
The in-game description for the Shin Guards, as quoted by Zelda Dungeon, reads: “Shin guards forged of zonaite. Wearing them awakens their latent magic, improving efficiency for Zonai devices.”

Sources and limits
The locations above combine GameSpot’s set guide, Zelda Dungeon’s set and item pages, and Game8’s set guide. The chest locations are established game content. Route details, especially for the Shin Guards’ sphere, vary between guides, so the in-game map and the chest’s position are the most reliable checks if a step does not match what you see.
The guides describe these locations for the standard Switch version of the game. Nintendo’s official Explorer’s Guide confirms the game context but does not list individual armor locations.
