Not as a free-to-keep game. Star Wars Jedi: Survivor launched on April 28, 2023, and EA documented one way to play it on launch day without buying a separate copy: PC players with a paid EA Play Pro membership could access it. That was subscription access, not permanent ownership. EA also said EA Play members could play on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, but its launch FAQ identifies EA Play Pro specifically for the PC launch route.
What “free at launch” meant
EA Play Pro was the documented launch-day route for PC players who wanted to play without purchasing the game separately. Membership was paid, so the game was included with a subscription rather than given away at no cost. Access through a membership is also different from owning a copy: it depends on the membership remaining active and on the game remaining available under the service’s terms.

EA’s launch FAQ separately said EA Play members could play on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. It does not establish that those console players received a free-to-keep copy, or that the same EA Play Pro PC launch arrangement applied to consoles. The original release was April 28, 2023, for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC; PS4 and Xbox One editions followed on September 17, 2024.
How the launch and later access routes compare
| Route | Platform and timing | Payment and access |
|---|---|---|
| EA Play Pro at launch | PC; April 28, 2023 | Paid membership; EA’s FAQ said members could play at launch. This was membership access, not a free-to-keep copy. |
| EA Play at launch | PS5 and Xbox Series X|S; April 28, 2023 | EA’s FAQ said EA Play members could play. The FAQ does not describe this as permanent free ownership. |
| EA Play catalog addition | PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S, subject to current service terms; announced for April 25, 2024 | Xbox Wire said the game would join EA Play. Eligible PC Game Pass and Game Pass Ultimate subscribers receive EA Play through those plans; access remains tied to eligible paid membership. |
| Xbox Free Play Days trial | Xbox; May 2–5, 2024 | Xbox announced a five-hour gameplay trial for all Xbox members, with Game Pass Core and Ultimate not required. The event has ended. |
| Store purchase | Available editions depend on platform and regional storefront | Buying a copy is a separate route from membership access. A purchase is not a free offer. |
What you can check for access now
EA’s current EA Play page lists Jedi: Survivor in the Pro Play List and describes EA Play and EA Play Pro as paid memberships. The page displays EA Play at $5.99 per month or $39.99 per year, and EA Play Pro at $16.99 per month or $119.99 per year. These are prices shown on EA’s page as accessed in 2026; prices can change and may vary by market. EA says a membership applies to one platform, so check that the plan and platform match where you intend to play.

In the United States, the PlayStation Store listing for the PS5 edition marks the game “Included with EA Play” while also displaying a purchase price. Those labels describe different ways to access the game: one through membership and one through a store purchase. The listing is regional; check your own country’s storefront and the membership terms rather than assuming that catalog availability or pricing is the same everywhere.
As of October 2026, the official pages covered here do not establish an active free-to-keep giveaway or a currently available no-cost trial. That does not prove no regional promotion exists. For a live offer, check the official store for your platform and country and read whether the offer is a trial, subscription entitlement, or permanent purchase.

Was it free on Game Pass?
Not as a permanent copy included at launch. Xbox Wire announced on April 22, 2024 that Jedi: Survivor would join EA Play on April 25, 2024. PC Game Pass and Game Pass Ultimate members receive EA Play with their subscription, so eligible subscribers could access the game through that included service benefit after it joined the catalog. That is a paid-plan entitlement, not a free-to-keep giveaway, and it came nearly a year after the game’s original launch.
What happened to the five-hour free trial?
Xbox’s Free Play Days announcement offered a five-hour trial from May 2 through May 5, 2024. Xbox said all Xbox members could try it and that Game Pass Core and Game Pass Ultimate were not required. The dates define the offer: it was a temporary event, not an ongoing way to play for free.

How to tell which offer you are looking at
- Free-to-keep: the store or publisher explicitly gives you a permanent license at no cost. The official pages described here do not establish a current offer of this kind.
- Included with membership: you can play while eligible membership and catalog terms allow. EA Play Pro was the documented PC launch route; later EA Play catalog access is another subscription route.
- Timed trial: play is limited by a time allowance or offer period. Xbox’s five-hour May 2024 event is an expired example.
- Purchase: you buy the game through a store or retailer rather than receiving membership or trial access.
For the original launch question, the practical answer is that PC players could play on April 28, 2023 through paid EA Play Pro without buying the game separately. It was not a free permanent copy. Console access, later catalog inclusion, and the expired Xbox trial were distinct offers with different dates and terms.
