To track gold-making in World of Warcraft, use a transaction ledger to follow income, expenses, and sales over time, and a session tracker to compare farms or routes. Keep gold already received separate from the estimated Auction House value of unsold loot, and verify addon compatibility for your WoW version before installing.
Choose the kind of tracking you need
A ledger and a session tracker answer different questions. A ledger helps explain where currency and items came from or went; a session tracker measures a timed activity, route, or location. For item-level earnings, look for purchase and sale records, and account for fees and unsold stock consistently.
- Where did my gold go? Choose a ledger that records income, expenses, and transaction sources.
- Which route or farm performed better? Choose a session tracker that records elapsed time and session or location history.
- What did a particular item earn? Use item-level purchase and sale history or exportable records, while accounting for fees and unsold inventory.
- Did crafting make money? Confirm the addon records crafting orders and reagent costs; Journalator documents those categories.

Gold Ledger
The Gold Ledger CurseForge listing describes income and expenses by source, item profit summaries, transaction records, daily gold earned, and a balance graph. Characters logged in with the addon can be tracked together or separately. Mail between your own characters is treated as an alt transfer rather than income or expense. The listing identifies its October 4, 2026 release as WoW Forever; that listing does not establish Retail support.
Journalator
Journalator’s CurseForge listing describes tracking Auction House sales and postings, vendor transactions, crafting orders, quest rewards, loot, mail, and trades. It offers category views, summaries, last-month sales-percentage statistics, and spreadsheet export. Its listing reported an October 5, 2026 release for Retail and several Classic flavors. Check the listing for the current release and your specific game version.

LedgerLite
LedgerLite’s CurseForge page presents it as a lightweight Retail addon that automatically logs income sources. The page reported an August 12, 2026 latest release. Its available description gives less detail than Journalator’s, so check its current documentation for the transaction categories and outputs you need.
Session trackers for farms and routes
GatherLedger
GatherLedger’s listing emphasizes session duration and value, zone and subzone, hotspots, and details about valuable items and their locations. For item valuation it requires Auctionator or TradeSkillMaster (TSM). Without either price source, item counts can still be tracked, but an Auction House value may be unavailable.

General Gold Tracker
The WoW General Gold Tracker repository describes a Retail-only farming-session tool that combines raw looted gold with Auction House value via TSM, vendor value, session summaries, and date and location history. Treat its market value as an estimate of loot value—not gold already received from a sale.
Set up a fair comparison
- Define a run. Record the character, activity or route, location, and start and end times. Use the same definition for each comparison.
- Separate currency from loot. Record realized gold independently. Include repair and travel costs, Auction House deposits or cuts, and relevant consumables when the tracker exposes them.
- Keep valuations consistent. If you estimate loot value, use the same price source and valuation convention for every run. GatherLedger’s documentation notes that item prices may be unavailable without Auctionator or TSM.
- Calculate the right rate. For realized gold per hour, divide net gold gained during the timed session by elapsed hours. If you include unsold items, label the figure estimated session value per hour; it is not realized profit.
- Compare like with like. Keep game flavor and server context relevant to the comparison, use the same route or activity and similar session lengths, and treat mail, transfers, fees, and unsold inventory consistently.
- Review multiple sessions. A single run is not evidence that a route is consistently better. Compare a set of sessions using the same method.
Check compatibility and data continuity
Addon support varies by WoW flavor and can change with new releases. Before installing, open the current listing and confirm the supported version matches the game you play; a release for one flavor does not prove support for another. For example, the cited Gold Ledger listing is for WoW Forever, while LedgerLite is presented as Retail-only and Journalator lists Retail and several Classic flavors.

Also treat tracking as forward-looking: an addon can record only what it observes after installation and while its tracking conditions are met. Do not assume it can reconstruct a complete history from before you began using it unless its documentation explicitly says so.
