How much storage and internet speed do Kingdom Hearts Switch games need? It depends on whether you have a cloud version or a native download. The older Switch cloud launcher for KINGDOM HEARTS -HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX- is listed at just 77 MB, but the game streams over the internet. Nintendo’s native listings estimate 54.2 GB for 1.5+2.5 ReMIX, 26.9 GB for HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue, and 45.2 GB for KINGDOM HEARTS III + Re Mind. Nintendo does not publish a specific minimum Mbps figure for cloud play.
First check whether your game is cloud or native
The storage figures differ because the products work differently. The earlier Switch releases were cloud versions: the console downloads a small launcher, then streams the game from a server. Nintendo’s newer listings are native editions, which download game data to the console.

For 1.5+2.5 ReMIX, Nintendo lists an older Cloud Version and native editions for both Switch 2 and, separately, the original Switch in Nintendo Canada’s store. The Switch 2 listing explicitly says that edition is incompatible with the original Switch. Check the product name and console compatibility in the store before downloading; “Switch” does not by itself tell you whether a listing is cloud or native.
Square Enix announced the Switch cloud releases in 2022: HD 1.5 + 2.5 ReMIX, HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue, KINGDOM HEARTS III + Re Mind, and the all-in-one KINGDOM HEARTS INTEGRUM MASTERPIECE for Cloud (Square Enix announcement).

How many GB is Kingdom Hearts on Switch?
Nintendo’s current listings give these figures. The native sizes are estimates, not guaranteed final download sizes; Nintendo cautions that preorder details can change. Recheck the relevant listing before downloading.
| Edition | Nintendo-listed size | Console and download type |
|---|---|---|
| KINGDOM HEARTS -HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX- Cloud Version | 77 MB | Original Switch cloud launcher; the game streams rather than downloading in full (Nintendo listing) |
| KINGDOM HEARTS -HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX- native edition | Estimated 54.2 GB | Switch 2 edition; marked incompatible with original Switch (Nintendo US listing) |
| KINGDOM HEARTS -HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX- native edition | Estimated 54.2 GB | Original Switch edition listed by Nintendo Canada (Nintendo Canada listing) |
| KINGDOM HEARTS HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue | Estimated 26.9 GB | Switch 2 native edition (Nintendo listing) |
| KINGDOM HEARTS III + Re Mind | Estimated 45.2 GB | Switch 2 native edition (Nintendo listing) |
The 77 MB figure is the cloud launcher’s download size, not the amount of storage needed for a full native copy. The native listings provide a much more useful planning figure if you intend to install the game locally. Nintendo lists the titles separately, so these figures should not be treated as a verified combined bundle size.

What internet speed do the cloud versions need?
Nintendo describes cloud play as requiring a stable, high-speed internet connection, but its official cloud-game FAQ does not give a Kingdom Hearts-specific or general minimum in Mbps. A number found elsewhere should not be treated as Nintendo’s supported threshold.
Nintendo’s practical answer to “How do I know if my internet speed is sufficient to play cloud versions of games?” is to use the brief free trial before purchasing access. Try it on the same connection and in the same place you expect to play. A successful trial is useful evidence about that moment and network, not a guarantee: performance can vary with your internet provider and conditions when you play.

How to improve a cloud-play connection
If the trial stutters or loses connection, Nintendo’s connection guidance suggests focusing on stability and reducing network interference:
- Use a persistent, stable high-speed connection rather than relying on a brief speed-test result alone.
- Reduce other devices’ or applications’ internet use while playing.
- Use a wired connection where possible.
- If using Wi-Fi, try the router’s 5 GHz band.
These steps can help, but they do not guarantee that a cloud game will perform consistently on every connection.

Which version should you plan for?
- Cloud version: Plan for the small launcher download, but make sure you can maintain a stable internet connection throughout play. Test the free trial on your intended network.
- Native version: Use Nintendo’s listed GB estimate to plan local storage, and verify that the edition matches your console. The estimates may change before or after release.
