The Sims 4 Bin folder sits inside the installed game files, in a folder called GameBin under the main The Sims 4 directory. On a default Windows install it is at C:Program FilesEA GamesThe Sims 4GameBin for the EA app and C:Program Files (x86)SteamsteamappscommonThe Sims 4GameBin for Steam. If your game was installed to a different drive or Steam library, those paths will not match, and the fastest way to find the folder is to search for the game’s executable, TS4_x64.exe.
Default Bin folder locations by launcher
The location depends mainly on which launcher installed the game. The paths below are common Windows defaults reported in EA community support answers. They are not guaranteed, because both the EA app and Steam let you choose a different install location.

How to find the Bin folder when the default path is missing
A missing folder at the default path does not mean the game is not installed. Use File Explorer’s search instead of guessing the drive:
- Open File Explorer and click the search box at the top right of the window.
- Type
TS4_x64.exeand press Enter. - Find the result whose path includes a
Binfolder. Ignore any result that points to a different game or a backup copy. - Right-click that result and choose Open file location. The folder that opens is the Bin folder.
If the search returns nothing, check whether the game is installed at all by opening your launcher’s library. In the EA app, the install location is shown in the game’s settings. In Steam, right-click The Sims 4 in your library, choose Properties, then open Installed Files and select Browse.

Why the Documents folder is not the Bin folder
Many players look in DocumentsElectronic ArtsThe Sims 4 because that is where the game stores user data, including saves, Tray files and settings. That folder is not the installed game directory, and the game executable is not there. Mod tools and tutorials sometimes mention both locations, so check which one a guide is asking for before you copy a path.
Mac installs
On Mac, there is no Windows-style GameBin path to use. When a tool or guide asks for the game location on a Mac, select the location that contains The Sims 4.app. Do not apply a Windows path to a Mac install. EA’s official download page confirms that the EA app, Steam and Epic are supported on PC and Mac and that users can select an install location, but it does not list every folder inside the Mac application bundle.

Common problems
- Two results from the search: the one inside a
Binfolder under aGamefolder is the installed game. Results inDocumentsare user data. - The folder exists but a tool cannot find it: point the tool to the folder that contains
The Sims 4rather than the Bin folder itself, unless the tool specifically asks for the Bin folder. - The game was moved after installation: the launcher may still point to the old location. Reinstall or verify the game through the launcher, and then repeat the search.
The search method works for any launcher, which is why it is the most reliable first step when you are unsure where the game was installed.
