Pixelmon lists 10 types—Dawn, Dusk, Fire, Leaf, Moon, Shiny, Sun, Thunder, Water, and Ice—and also uses them to craft themed tools and armor.
What evolution stones do
The primary purpose of an evolution stone is to evolve Pokémon that are compatible with that stone. The general Pixelmon Wiki Evolution Stones page lists the stone types but does not provide a Pokémon-by-stone compatibility list. Check the entry for the Pokémon you want to evolve and the instructions for your installed Pixelmon version before collecting materials.
The same items also serve as crafting materials for evolution-stone tools and armor.

How to get evolution stones
The Pixelmon Wiki identifies two general ways to obtain evolution stones:

- Configuration: 6 cards per pack 12 packs per Mega Box

- Craft them from shards. The shard type and where to find it depend on the stone. The general reference does not specify shard locations or crafting quantities, so consult the item and shard pages for the stone you need.
- Find them as tier 2 special drops. The general page does not give a drop table or exact conditions for these drops.
These are general wiki-listed methods, not guaranteed instructions for every server. Recipes and systems can vary in Reforged, and modpack or server settings may differ. The Pixelmon Wiki recipes reference organizes recipes by category; confirm that its recipe matches the version you are playing.
What evolution-stone armor does
Matching armor pieces increase the spawn rate of Pokémon that evolve with the corresponding stone. According to the Pixelmon Wiki armor reference, a complete set has an effect equal to a Strong Lure and adds a stone-specific effect. The reference gives the full-set effects below:

A full set is listed as requiring 24 stones, or 216 individual shards. The armor page notes that armor changed before Pixelmon version 9.3.10, so treat these effects and costs as version-sensitive and check the reference against your game.

Start with the Pokémon you want to evolve, then confirm which stone it needs in the documentation for your installed version. If you are collecting a stone for its armor effect or spawn-rate benefit instead, use the matching set’s listed effect as a guide and verify that the armor recipe and behavior apply to your server.

The general Evolution Stones page was last edited on 2019-02-03. It is useful for the listed types and broad mechanics, but it does not establish every current server’s recipes, drop conditions, or Pokémon compatibility. Version, modpack, and server configuration can affect what works in practice.
