The Savage Mutt is a Chapter 5 target in Resident Evil 4 (2023). Start at the Village Chief’s Manor, then follow the map marker when it shifts to the Village Square—the stronger Plaga dog appears behind the manor’s main gate and the fight moves toward the square.
Pick up the Chapter 5 request
After rescuing Ashley and completing the Church puzzle, head back toward the Village Square. Pick up the blue “A Savage Mutt” request note beside the Merchant near the Town Hall. The note asks Leon to defeat a strong threat; its listed area is the Village Chief’s Manor and its reward is eight Spinels (request text and details).

Follow the marker from the manor to the square
- Open the map and follow the initial marker south of the Village Square to the Village Chief’s House, also called the Village Chief’s Manor in the request listing.
- Inspect the manor. Ashley can help Leon reach the second-floor bedroom ladder.
- Check the map again. The marker moves to the Village Square. The Savage Mutt appears behind the manor’s main gate, then draws Leon toward the square. Follow the updated marker rather than searching only around the house (GameSpot’s Chapter 5 guide; Vandal’s request guide).
Defeat the Savage Mutt and claim the reward
The target is a stronger-than-usual Plaga dog, not an ordinary village dog. Defeat it, then return to the Merchant to complete the request and receive eight Spinels.
