Epic Games has not confirmed when the next Fortnite season starts. What Epic has published is the end date of the current pass: the Chapter 7 Season 4: Override Battle Pass ends on November 1, 2026, Eastern Time. That is an end date, not a launch date, and it does not tell you the time the next season goes live or whether downtime is planned.
What Epic has confirmed
Epic’s official Fortnite Battle Pass page identifies the current pass as Chapter 7 Season 4: Override and lists its end as November 1, 2026 Eastern Time. Fortnite Battle Royale – Override Battle Pass on Epic’s site is the page to check for that listing. As of October 8, 2026, that end date is about three and a half weeks away.

The official pages reviewed for this question do not give a start date, start time, or maintenance window for the season that follows. Until Epic publishes one, any specific date you see elsewhere is not an official confirmation.
Why the title’s “Chapter 6, Season 4” is out of date
The Chapter 6 Season 4 date is historical. In Epic’s August 6, 2025 announcement, Bad Bugs Bite the Bullet in Fortnite Battle Royale: Shock ‘N Awesome!, Epic said: “Chapter 6 Season 4 starts August 7.” That season began on August 7, 2025, so it is not the upcoming season.

Epic’s current season naming is Chapter 7 Season 4: Override, which is described in Fortnite Override: Break the Rules. Change the Game., an Epic news post dated August 20, 2026.
Pass end date versus season start date
Most of the confusion around this question comes from treating the two dates as the same thing. A Battle Pass end date tells you when the current pass stops being purchasable or progressable. A season start date tells you when new content, a new pass, and new map or mode changes arrive. Epic has published the first for the current season and has not published the second.

How to check for the next season’s start
Epic typically announces season changes through its own channels, so these are the places to look as November 1 approaches:
- Open the Fortnite Battle Pass page and confirm whether the end date is still November 1, 2026 Eastern Time and whether a new pass is listed.
- Open the Fortnite homepage and look for a new season banner or Battle Pass promotion.
- Check Epic’s Fortnite news posts for a dated season announcement that names a start day and time.
When Epic publishes a start date, it will appear in one of these places. Treat any date that comes from a third party without an Epic source as unconfirmed.

Do you need to buy anything to find out?
No. Epic describes Fortnite as free-to-play, and the date information above is available on Epic’s public pages without a purchase. The Battle Pass is in-game content, so no physical product is needed to follow the season schedule.
The one thing to keep in mind is that the Battle Pass end date and the next season’s start are separate events. Plan around the November 1, 2026 Eastern Time end date, and wait for Epic’s announcement for the start of the next season.
