Sony’s official country and PSN language listings include at least five places that the 2024 list labels unavailable: Bolivia, Oman, the Philippines, Serbia, and Vietnam. Sony’s pages do not provide a complete, dated list of every country where PSN is unavailable, so 121 should be treated as a historical claim, not a verified current total.
Which countries is PlayStation Network not available?
There is no definitive current country-by-country exclusion list in the Sony sources cited here. Sony provides official directories of country and regional destinations, but those positive lists do not establish a complete inverse list of places without PSN. The specific “121 countries” claim belongs to Insider Gaming’s May 4, 2024 article, and it conflicts with Sony listings for multiple countries.
Sony’s PSN account-language table is organized by “Countries / Regions | Network (PSN),” while its country selector lists regional destinations. These are practical first checks for whether Sony lists a local destination; neither page is a dated, comprehensive list of countries where PSN is unavailable.
What does “121 countries” mean?
Insider Gaming published the figure in 2024 while covering the Helldivers 2 account-linking controversy. It described a list of 121 countries where PSN was “not available” and said it would update the list if PlayStation announced an expansion. The number should therefore be attributed precisely as “121 countries — Insider Gaming, 2024,” rather than presented as Sony’s count or as a current total.

The available evidence does not support turning that number into a current share of countries or markets: there is no verified current denominator or authoritative, dated list of all excluded destinations. Nor does Sony’s official material explain why any particular country is missing from a destination list. It would be inaccurate to attribute every absence to sanctions, local law, or a business decision without country-specific evidence.
Where does the 2024 list conflict with Sony’s listings?
Insider Gaming includes these five places in its unavailable list, while Sony’s official PSN country or region listings include them:

This mismatch does not prove that every PSN service or feature works identically in those places. A country appearing in a directory is evidence that Sony lists it as a destination, but it does not guarantee identical access to the Store, payment methods, content, or every feature. The sources may also be measuring different things: a regional storefront, account creation, Store access, or support for a specific game or service.
Can I make a PSN account in my country?
Check Sony’s country selector and PSN country/language table for your country or region, then consult its local PlayStation pages for the service or feature you need. A listing is a useful indicator, not a blanket guarantee of every feature. Sony’s US terms say users select their country or region of residence when creating an account and that “Once your account is created, you will not be able to change the country or region code associated with your account.”

Sony also cautions in its US terms that “Some PlayStation Services and Content may not be available or supported in your country or language.” Its March 2025 US PSN terms add: “Availability of PSN, its features, and its Content, varies depending on which PlayStation Device or other device you are using to access PSN, and is subject to change at any time.” These statements concern US terms and do not resolve every country’s status; they do make clear that a country listing should not be read as a promise of uniform service.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How to interpret Sony’s country listings
- Country or region listed: Sony’s directory or language table names that destination. Check the relevant local PlayStation pages for details.
- Account creation: Sony’s terms describe choosing a country or region at account creation, but the cited listings do not provide a complete, dated account-creation availability matrix.
- Store and payments: A destination listing alone does not confirm that every Store item or payment method is supported there.
- Individual features and games: Availability can differ by country, language, and device, and can change over time.
- Missing from a list: Absence from a directory is not, by itself, an official explanation or proof of why a destination is missing.
For a separate legacy-store change, PlayStation’s July 1, 2026 announcement discusses PlayStation Store closures for PS3 and PS Vita by device and market. That is a distinct change and should not be confused with general PSN country availability.
