What does “never sell power” mean in Where Winds Meet?
In its global launch announcement dated November 14, 2025, the official Where Winds Meet website said PvP, PvE, and casual activities are free and reward progression materials. It described monetization as focused on appearances, battle passes, and monthly passes, then stated: “Let us be crystal clear: we have no P2W here. Your legend is written by skill and choice, never by wallet size. We will never sell power. We will never compromise the integrity of combat and gameplay for profit. This is our promise.”
That is the developer’s public commitment, not an independent finding that every paid item has been checked for gameplay effects or that future updates will always comply. NetEase Publishing Head Eric Jung also told GameMeca that the game is “fundamentally Non-P2W” and that monetization focuses on cosmetic items. These statements explain the intended model; they do not verify every purchase item by item.
What can players buy with Echo Beads?
The official store listings describe purchasable Echo Beads and several uses for them. The PlayStation Store listing says they can unlock premium skins, mounts, weapons, effects, and other cosmetic items, as well as enter draws for a chance to obtain rare cosmetics. It also says Echo Jade can be used for cosmetic draws and to unlock unique items. Xbox listings reviewed in 2026 describe paid Echo Beads for premium skins, mounts, weapons, effects, appearances, and draws for rare appearances.
This storefront wording establishes that paid currency and randomized cosmetic draws exist. It does not, by itself, establish that a listed “weapon” or “unique item” provides a combat advantage—or that it does not. The descriptions do not provide enough item-level gameplay detail to resolve that distinction. Accordingly, the available evidence supports reporting the promise and the listed purchase uses, but not claiming that every paid item has been independently verified as purely cosmetic.
Will Where Winds Meet ever sell power?
The official answer is that it will not: the November 14, 2025 launch page says, “We will never sell power.” Whether that commitment holds across every future update cannot be confirmed from the promise itself. The reviewed store descriptions and announcements do not constitute a comprehensive audit of every paid item’s effect on gameplay, so players should distinguish the stated policy from independently established compliance over time.

Does the game have free content?
NetEase announced Where Winds Meet as a free-to-play global release on November 14, 2025, initially available through Steam, PlayStation 5, Epic Games Store, and the official website, with cross-play and cross-progression. NetEase later announced that the iOS and Android versions became available on December 12, 2025, also with cross-play and cross-progression.
For launch, NetEase said more than 180 cosmetics were available free to players, including 80+ outfits and 100+ accessories. These are figures for launch cosmetics, not a current count of everything in the game or store.

An official notice dated December 12, 2025 says Echo Beads and monthly-pass currency purchased through PlayStation Store are visible and usable only on PlayStation Network. Premium rewards from a battle pass purchased through PlayStation Store can only be claimed on PlayStation Network. Players who use multiple platforms should check the official platform notice for current purchase and claiming restrictions before buying.

No. The official NetEase Store lists physical fan merchandise, including a Where Winds Meet Goose Plushie, alongside items such as charms, cards, a folding fan, a keyboard mat, and figurines. Merchandise is separate from in-game currency and purchases, so it is not evidence for or against the game’s pay-to-win promise. Store inventory can change.
