Hell Is Us has welcomed more than 2 million players, and Update 1.8 marks the milestone with 10 new Hollow Walkers. The official Steam announcement also lists fixes for a save-system memory corruption issue and map collisions that could leave players stuck. The announcement calls the figure a player count—not copies sold—and gives no counting method or measurement cutoff.
What does the 2 million-player milestone mean?
The official Hell Is Us update announcement on Steam says the game has welcomed “over 2 million players.” It does not define how players are counted or specify the date through which the total was measured, so the figure should not be read as 2 million copies sold.

What does Update 1.8 add?
Ten new Hollow Walkers
The headline content addition is 10 new Hollow Walkers. The announcement describes them as a group rather than naming or detailing each enemy individually, so it confirms the roster expansion without providing a full enemy-by-enemy breakdown.
The update announcement says: “We heard your feedback on enemy variety, and these new additions bring more diversity to the foes you’ll encounter.”

Save and map fixes
Update 1.8 also fixes a memory corruption issue affecting the save system, along with several collision issues across maps that could leave players stuck. These are the specific technical fixes highlighted in the official notice.

The official notice identifies the Steam update and lists its build as 1.8.125.51687. That identifier applies to the Steam build; it does not establish matching version numbers or rollout timing on consoles.

Platform reporting is not fully consistent. Push Square identifies PS5 and describes the update as available across platforms, while GamingBolt names Xbox Series X/S, PS5 and PC and reports a later Nintendo Switch 2 launch. The Steam announcement does not settle console-specific availability dates. In particular, do not assume a confirmed October 8 Switch 2 rollout from these reports alone; check the relevant platform’s update notice for its current status.
