Before changing anything, record:
- The exact error text
- The program or game that displays it
- Whether it appears at startup, when audio begins, or during every Windows login
- Your computer or motherboard model
- Whether Windows is 64-bit
- Whether the issue began after Windows Update, an audio-driver update, uninstalling Nahimic, antivirus activity, or disk cleanup
The most likely repair is not downloading the DLL. It is reinstalling the correct manufacturer-provided audio package, usually the Realtek driver together with its matching Nahimic component.
What nahimicv3apo.dll does
nahimicv3apo.dll is a 64-bit Nahimic V3 Audio Processing Object, or APO. An APO is a component loaded by the Windows audio system to apply processing such as effects, equalization, virtual surround, microphone enhancement, or other vendor-specific features.
It is commonly included in OEM audio packages that combine:

- A Realtek Universal Audio driver
- A Nahimic or A-Volute audio-processing component
- A manufacturer-specific audio application or service
The complete package may be supplied by MSI, ASUS, Lenovo, Dell, Alienware, or another computer or motherboard manufacturer. The file is not a standard Microsoft Windows component, and it is not a Visual C++, DirectX, or .NET runtime file.
The publisher field may refer to Nahimic Inc, while other installer or driver metadata identifies A-Volute, Realtek, or the computer manufacturer. These names describe different parts of the same OEM audio stack, so Realtek should not automatically be treated as the sole developer.
A public file listing associates this DLL with a 64-bit build identified as version 6.3.9600.17246 and a size of about 6.06 MB, but that should not be treated as a universal version or download target. Audio packages vary by model and driver generation.
Check whether the file is legitimate
A copy in C:WindowsSystem32 is not automatically suspicious. OEM audio installers can place legitimate Nahimic files in Windows audio-driver locations and in the Driver Store. The important checks are the signature, path, and package that installed it.
Check the file path
- Press
Ctrl+Shift+Escto open Task Manager. - If necessary, select More details.
- Look for audio-related processes or the application named in the error.
- Right-click the process and choose Open file location, if available.
- For the DLL itself, search from File Explorer for
nahimicv3apo.dll. - Right-click the file, choose Properties, and inspect the General, Details, and Digital Signatures tabs.
A file under C:WindowsSystem32 or inside a Windows driver package can be consistent with an OEM installation. A copy in a random temporary folder, a game directory, or a user-download directory deserves closer examination.
Check the digital signature
- Open the file’s Properties window.
- Select Digital Signatures.
- Select the listed signature and click Details.
- Confirm that Windows reports that the digital signature is valid.
- Use View Certificate to inspect the signer and certificate status.
A missing or invalid signature does not prove malware, because some older packages may use different signing arrangements. It does mean you should avoid trusting the file and reinstall the audio package from the computer manufacturer’s support page.
Fix 1: Install the correct OEM audio package
This is the fastest and most reliable fix for a missing or damaged nahimicv3apo.dll.
- Press
Win+R, typemsinfo32, and press Enter. - Record System Manufacturer and System Model.
- If this is a custom desktop, record the motherboard manufacturer and model instead.
- Open the manufacturer’s official support page on another browser tab.
- Search for the exact model.
- Select the driver downloads for your installed version of Windows.
- Download the latest Realtek audio, Nahimic, Nahimic APO, or similarly named audio packages.
- If Realtek and Nahimic are separate downloads, obtain both.
- Install the Realtek package first unless the manufacturer’s instructions specify another order.
- Install the matching Nahimic or APO package.
- Restart Windows.
MSI systems may require the Realtek audio driver, Realtek Audio Console, Nahimic 3, and the Nahimic driver as separate parts of one installation. ASUS systems can also publish model-specific Nahimic APO packages. Do not substitute a package intended for a different laptop, motherboard, or audio device.

- PLUG IN AND HEAR SOUND IN SECONDS - USB Type-A connector with a 3.5mm stereo headphone output and a separate 3.5mm mono microphone input. No drivers, no software, no external power - the adapter is USB bus-powered and is recognized as a standard USB audio device.
- WORKS ON WINDOWS, MAC AND LINUX - Driverless on Windows 98SE/ME/2000/XP/Server 2003/Vista/7/8, Linux and Mac OSX, and compliant with the USB Audio Device Class 1.0 specification, so any system that supports class-compliant USB audio will see it. Select it as the sound output and input device after plugging it in.
- TWO JACKS, TWO JOBS - The green jack is stereo OUT for headphones or powered speakers; the pink jack is mono microphone IN for a 3.5mm mic. It does NOT support 4-pole headsets on a single combo plug, it does NOT power passive speakers, and it does NOT add surround sound - it is a stereo 2-channel adapter.
- FOR LAPTOPS AND DESKTOPS THAT NEED AN AUDIO PORT BACK - Adds a headphone and mic port to a laptop, desktop, or mini PC whose onboard jack has failed or was never there. Managed and work-issued computers can block new USB audio devices by policy - check with your IT department before ordering for a company machine.
- SABRENT SUPPORT AND WARRANTY - What is in the box: one USB audio sound adapter. Backed by a 1-year limited warranty, extended to 2 years when you register within 90 days on the manufacturer's website.
After restarting, launch the program that showed the error. Also open Settings > System > Sound and confirm that the expected output device is present.
Outbyte Driver Updater can reduce the manual work of hunting through several driver pages and guessing which audio package is stale; its free scan shows what it finds, while the full version performs the driver installation. For a file tied to a specific OEM audio stack, the manufacturer’s package remains the definitive source.
Fix 2: Check Windows Update and optional drivers
Windows Update may provide the correct audio driver, or it may have replaced an OEM driver with a package that does not match the Nahimic component.
- Open Settings.
- Select Windows Update.
- Click Check for updates.
- Install available updates and restart.
- Return to Windows Update.
- Select Advanced options.
- Open Optional updates.
- Expand Driver updates.
- Install an audio driver only if it matches your device.
- Restart again.
Microsoft’s audio-driver guidance explains the normal update and reinstall paths. If the problem started immediately after an update, use the manufacturer package instead of repeatedly reinstalling the same problematic version.

Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Fix 3: Reinstall the audio device in Device Manager
Use this when the driver installation is incomplete or Windows continues to reference a file that no longer exists.
- Right-click Start and select Device Manager.
- Expand Sound, video and game controllers.
- Right-click the Realtek or manufacturer audio device.
- Select Properties and open the Driver tab.
- Note the driver provider and version.
- Close the Properties window.
- Right-click the audio device again.
- Choose Uninstall device.
- If offered, select the option to remove the driver package. Do not remove unrelated devices.
- Confirm the uninstall.
- Restart the computer.
- Install the exact OEM Realtek and Nahimic packages downloaded for the model.
If the problem began after a driver update, open the device’s Properties > Driver tab and select Roll Back Driver, if that button is available. Microsoft documents driver rollback and generic audio-driver troubleshooting in its sound troubleshooting guidance.
A successful repair normally removes the startup error, restores the audio device, and prevents audiodg.exe from crashing when sound starts.
Fix 4: Repair Windows components with DISM and SFC
Use these commands after repairing the OEM package, or when Windows has other signs of component corruption. They are secondary tools here because nahimicv3apo.dll is normally supplied by a third-party driver package.
- Right-click Start.
- Select Terminal (Admin) or Command Prompt (Admin).
- Approve the User Account Control prompt.
- Run:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth
- Wait for it to finish.
- Then run:
sfc /scannow
- Restart Windows.
Microsoft requires DISM before SFC in its System File Checker instructions.

Outbyte PC Repair can make the manual process less repetitive by scanning for the conditions it supports; its free scan shows what it finds, while the full version carries out the repair. It is optional, and reinstalling the OEM audio package remains the direct fix when the missing file belongs to that package.
DISM and SFC may repair Windows components that prevent audio from loading, but they may not restore a missing Nahimic DLL. If the commands complete successfully and the error remains, return to the model-specific audio installation.
Fix 5: Check antivirus quarantine
Security software can quarantine a driver component after an update or after the file’s signature changes.
Free tools Windows power users keep installed
One-click scans. No signup required.
- Open Windows Security.
- Select Virus & threat protection.
- Choose Protection history.
- Look for an event involving
nahimicv3apo.dll, Nahimic, A-Volute, or the audio installer. - Do not restore the file solely because its name looks familiar.
- Check its path and signature first.
- If it came from a verified OEM installer and the security product confirms the detection is incorrect, follow that product’s restore or allow-list procedure.
- Otherwise, reinstall the signed audio package from the manufacturer’s support page.
Do not disable antivirus just to copy a DLL, and do not copy a file from another computer. A replacement can have the wrong architecture, version, dependencies, or driver registration.
Fix 6: Check architecture and package compatibility
Most current Nahimic V3 APO installations use a 64-bit DLL. To check your Windows architecture:
- Open Settings.
- Select System > About.
- Read System type.
Use a package intended for the exact Windows architecture, model, and audio hardware. Do not use a 32-bit DLL on 64-bit Windows, mix Nahimic generations, or install an audio package intended for another motherboard.
There is no Windows Feature that normally needs to be enabled for this DLL. Do not search Turn Windows features on or off for Nahimic. The component is installed through the audio-driver package.

This can restore basic sound while removing Nahimic effects. If audio becomes stable, the result points to an OEM driver or APO compatibility problem rather than a missing Windows runtime.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Why regsvr32 usually does not help
Do not run:
regsvr32 nahimicv3apo.dll
regsvr32 is intended for DLLs that expose a self-registration entry point such as DllRegisterServer. An audio APO is normally installed and connected through its driver package, INF files, registrations, permissions, and audio configuration. Manually registering it does not rebuild those relationships and can produce a “DllRegisterServer was not found” or “not self-registerable” error.
Microsoft explains these limitations in its regsvr32 troubleshooting guidance.
Do not download an isolated DLL
Avoid third-party DLL download sites and copied files from another PC. An isolated DLL can contain malware, have the wrong architecture, be an incompatible version, or lack the companion files and registrations required by the audio driver.
It often does not fix the underlying problem because Windows is loading an APO through a complete audio-driver configuration. Restore that configuration through Windows Update or the official support page for the exact computer or motherboard.
If a game alone reports the error, use its launcher’s Verify or Repair option as well. The game may be exposing an audio-driver conflict, but it usually does not own nahimicv3apo.dll.
When to use System Restore
Use System Restore when:
- The problem began immediately after a driver or Windows update
- A restore point exists from before the failure
- Reinstalling the correct OEM package did not resolve the issue
Open Control Panel, search for Recovery, choose Open System Restore, select a restore point, and review the affected programs before confirming.
System Restore is not a replacement for identifying the correct audio package. If the driver installation is simply incomplete, reinstalling the OEM package is more direct.

FAQ
Is nahimicv3apo.dll a Windows file?
No. It is associated with Nahimic audio processing and is normally delivered through an OEM audio-driver package.
Is the file malware?
The filename alone cannot prove that. Check its path, digital signature, and package association. A signed copy installed with the correct OEM audio package can be legitimate.
Why did it appear after installing a Realtek driver?
Realtek Universal Audio packages can include or reference Nahimic and A-Volute processing components. The Realtek driver and Nahimic APO must match.
Should I install only the Nahimic APO driver?
Use the manufacturer’s instructions. If Realtek and Nahimic are listed separately, install the matching Realtek audio driver and Nahimic component together rather than restoring only the DLL.
What if the file exists but the error remains?
Reinstall or roll back the complete audio stack. Confirm that Windows is loading the correct package and check whether audiodg.exe crashes. Do not replace the existing file manually.
Will SFC or DISM restore it?
Not necessarily. They repair Windows components and may not restore a third-party Nahimic file. Use the model-specific OEM audio installer for that.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteWhen should I contact the manufacturer?
Contact OEM support when the exact model has several audio packages, the installer fails repeatedly, the device disappears from Device Manager, or audio still crashes after a clean driver installation.
