PS5 error CE-107891-6 means the game or app did not install properly. Sony’s recommended fix is to delete the affected content from Settings > Storage, then reinstall it. Before doing that, check the download queue, available storage, system software, and PlayStation service status.
The code does not by itself prove that your SSD is failing, your save data is corrupted, or PlayStation Network is down.

Quick fix
- Press the PS button and open Downloads/Uploads. Pause and resume the affected download. If it remains stuck, choose Cancel and Delete.
- Open Settings > Storage and make sure you have enough free space. Game updates and installations can require temporary working space; there is no universal extra-space amount.
- Check PlayStation Network status before restarting a large download.
- Update the console through Settings > System > System Software > System Software Update and Settings > Update System Software.
- Go to Settings > Storage, select the storage location containing the affected game or app, and delete it.
- Reinstall it from Game Library or, for a disc game, from the original disc.
This is the procedure Sony gives specifically for CE-107891-6: delete the affected content and reinstall it.
What CE-107891-6 means
Sony describes CE-107891-6 as a problem where content is not installing properly on the PS5. It can appear when you try to start content whose installation or update did not complete correctly. Sony does not define it as a specific hardware failure or guarantee that it is caused by corrupted files, insufficient storage, Rest Mode, a particular firmware version, or a PSN outage.

If the download or update is stuck
Do not repeatedly launch a game while its installation or update is incomplete. Open Downloads/Uploads from the Control Center, select the item, and choose Pause, then Resume. If that does not work, select Cancel and Delete, then start the installation again from Game Library.
If the problem began during an update, restart the PS5 completely rather than leaving it in Rest Mode:

- Cancel the visibly stalled download if necessary.
- Choose Power > Turn Off PS5.
- Wait until the power indicator stops flashing.
- Turn the console on and retry the update or reinstall.
Sony’s broader downloaded-game troubleshooting guide also recommends checking storage, system software, service status, and licenses.
Check storage and installation location
Open Settings > Storage and review the relevant location: Console Storage, USB Extended Storage, or a compatible M.2 SSD. Delete unused games or applications if the console is nearly full. The space shown for a game in Game Library is useful, but installations and updates may need additional temporary space.
If the game is on USB extended storage, check that the drive is connected and recognized. Try moving or reinstalling the affected game on console storage. Native PS5 games cannot be played directly from USB extended storage; they must be copied back to console storage. Compatible PS4 games can run from that storage. One failed game does not prove the drive is defective, but repeated failures, disconnects, or storage warnings make the drive or connection more suspicious. When to restore licenses
Restore licenses only when the symptoms suggest an entitlement problem—for example, a padlock icon, a missing digital purchase, or a game owned by another account using Console Sharing. Go to Settings > Users and Accounts > Other > Restore Licenses > Restore.
For a PlayStation Plus game, check that the subscription is active and that the account that claimed the game is signed in. If another account purchased the game, confirm that account is present and that Console Sharing and Offline Play is configured where appropriate. License restoration can resolve access problems, but it is not Sony’s primary fix for an improperly installed CE-107891-6 title.
Disc-game troubleshooting
For a physical game, eject and reinsert the disc, then check that it is clean and free of fingerprints. Delete the incomplete installation and reinstall from the disc. Testing another game disc, Blu-ray, or DVD can help distinguish one damaged or problematic disc from a disc-drive problem. If multiple discs fail, follow Sony’s PS5 disc troubleshooting steps.

Use Safe Mode if reinstalling fails
Use Safe Mode after the normal reinstall path fails, especially if a deleted game icon remains, several games fail, or the console shows broader storage behavior.
- Turn off the PS5 by holding the power button for about three seconds.
- Wait until the power indicator stops flashing.
- Press and hold the power button again.
- Release it after the second beep, about seven seconds after the first.
- Connect the controller with a USB cable and press the PS button.
Try these options in order:
- Repair Console Storage: appropriate for storage or startup symptoms. Sony says this does not erase data.
- Clear System Software Cache: a reasonable choice for broader system-feature or performance problems.
- Rebuild Database: scans the drive and creates a new content database. It can help when system features behave abnormally or a deleted game remains on Home, but it does not reinstall the game or guarantee a repair of its files.

Only one game or app fails
Delete it again, restart the console, confirm storage space, update system software, and reinstall it on console storage. If every other title works after a clean reinstall, contact the game publisher; the issue may be specific to that title or its update.

Several games or apps fail
Use Safe Mode’s storage and database options, check any USB drive, and look for system-software problems. If failures continue, use PlayStation Support or Repairs rather than repeatedly reinstalling games.
The console will not start normally
Use Safe Mode troubleshooting. Do not select Reset PS5 or Reset PS5 (Reinstall System Software) casually: reset options can erase user data, and reinstalling the system software deletes all user data. Back up saves and other important data before any destructive recovery step. Sony’s Safe Mode system-update instructions cover the nonstandard update route.
