The partnership and reported interest in working together again show that the series remains in circulation, while former director Hideki Kamiya’s comments describe a plan he had after Bayonetta 3—not a project currently confirmed by PlatinumGames.
What PlatinumGames has announced
On September 30, 2026, PlatinumGames announced four Bayonetta-themed outfits for Shift Up’s Stellar Blade. The collaboration is scheduled to arrive on November 5, 2026, for PlayStation 5, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2. Read PlatinumGames’ collaboration announcement.

This is official Bayonetta-branded activity, but it is a crossover inside another game. The announcement does not reveal a new standalone Bayonetta game, a release window for one, or a development commitment for Bayonetta 4.
Is Bayonetta 4 coming?
There is no Bayonetta 4 announcement in the cited updates. GamesRadar+ reported that Shift Up CEO Kim Hyung Tae offered to work with PlatinumGames again and that PlatinumGames CEO Atsushi Inaba expressed interest. That indicates openness to another collaboration, not confirmation that either company is making a Bayonetta sequel. GamesRadar+’s interview coverage.

The collaboration and the sequel question are separate: the former is confirmed, while the latter remains unannounced.
What Hideki Kamiya said about continuing the series
In a May 2025 report, Nintendo Life quoted Kamiya describing plans he had after Bayonetta 3: another chapter, potentially leading to another trilogy, with a new story and a fresh approach to the game design. He rejected the idea that he wanted to end the series with the third game, saying, “That’s absolutely not true.” But he also said, “Unfortunately, I’m not in a position to do that anymore.”
Kamiya’s remarks explain his own ambitions while at PlatinumGames. They do not establish that PlatinumGames or another developer is currently producing the continuation he imagined. Nintendo Life’s May 2025 report.
What happened to the Bayonetta developers?
A February 2025 Nintendo Life report discussed a video in which Kamiya appeared with Abebe Tinari, Yusuke Miyata, Takahisa Taura, Kenji Saito, and Masaki Yamanaka. The report said Tinari had confirmed his departure from PlatinumGames; it described departures by Miyata, Taura, and Saito as rumors, and said the video appeared to suggest the wider group had moved on.

Those details should not be read as a company-confirmed departure list: the report did not establish every person’s status to the same degree, and it is a dated account rather than a current staff directory. Nintendo Life’s February 2025 report.
PlatinumGames has had other announced work. Koei Tecmo’s October 2025 financial-results presentation listed NINJA GAIDEN 4 as a co-development between Koei Tecmo and PlatinumGames. PlatinumGames’ catalog lists Bayonetta 3 and Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon as Nintendo Switch releases published by Nintendo. The company lists Bayonetta 3 as an October 2022 release and Bayonetta Origins as a March 2023 release. Neither listing presents the games as preparation for a confirmed sequel.
