Crimson Moon’s latest cited update, Hotfix 1.0.2, is live, but Team Metal says save handling is still being worked on. The developer recommends using one device for a save where possible and suggests PC players keep a local backup. The hotfix also fixes a range of co-op and Steam Deck issues, without promising that every cross-device save problem or multiplayer issue is resolved.

Where are Crimson Moon save files stored?

SteamDB’s Steam Cloud metadata reports this Windows save location: %USERPROFILE%/AppData/Local/CrimsonMoonNGSavedSaveGames. Treat it as a useful location to check, not a developer-confirmed recovery path. SteamDB also reports a Linux override, but the cited metadata does not establish a developer-approved restore procedure. SteamDB’s Crimson Moon metadata.

Team Metal recommends that PC players may want to create a local backup as an additional precaution. The developer does not specify a folder path or guarantee that a backup will restore every lost or corrupted save. Avoid deleting, replacing, or moving files unless you understand the consequences and have preserved a separate copy.

Does Crimson Moon support Steam Cloud, and can you transfer a save between PC and Steam Deck?

SteamDB reports Steam Cloud save metadata, but that is not a guarantee of reliable synchronization between devices. Team Metal’s September 30, 2026 Hotfix 1.0.2 announcement says save stability improved, while noting that save issues remain under investigation. The developer says many remaining cases occur when moving between devices and recommends playing a save on a single device where possible. It has not declared all cross-device save issues resolved.

Earlier reports included Steam-to-Steam-Deck synchronization trouble and save-data loss during updates. Hotfix 1.0.1 announced a fix for a Steam Deck/PC sync issue, but the 1.0.2 warning shows that this did not amount to a blanket resolution of device-switching problems. See the historical launch known-issues notice, updated September 1, 2026, and the later 1.0.2 announcement for the current qualification.

  • Where possible, continue a save on the device where you started it.
  • If you play on Windows PC, consider keeping a separate local backup before changing devices or relying on synchronization.
  • Do not assume that Steam Cloud metadata, an update, or the reported folder path guarantees recovery.

Does Crimson Moon have multiplayer or co-op?

Yes. The Steam listing describes Crimson Moon as a single-player game with online co-op. Hotfix 1.0.2 reports fixes for Quickplay and joining sessions, cross-platform friend requests, client progression and gear state, combat behavior, reviving, and collecting Lore Scrolls in co-op. These are fixes to specific reported problems, not confirmation that every session or platform pairing now works without issues.

Team Metal also listed further co-op improvements for planned Patch 1.1. The cited sources do not provide a complete platform-by-platform crossplay matrix, so they do not establish which combinations of platforms can play together in every case. The store listing is available on Steam.

Does Crimson Moon work on Steam Deck?

Hotfix 1.0.2 includes Steam Deck-focused fixes involving combat desynchronization, host display of a Deck client’s animations, streaming brightness, virtual keyboard behavior, settings, docked and undocked input, achievements, and interface and button-glyph readability. Team Metal also says it improved performance using the default graphics configuration.

The announcement gives no measured frame rate or battery-life figure and does not establish a universal graphics recommendation or formal compatibility badge. Its notes describe fixes and an improvement to default-settings performance, not a benchmark or guarantee for every Deck setup.

What is new in Crimson Moon Hotfix 1.0.2?

Team Metal announced Hotfix 1.0.2 as live on September 30, 2026. It includes save and progression work, co-op fixes, and Steam Deck changes. The developer’s September 24 planned scope cited “over 200 fixes”; the final announcement describes hundreds of fixes and improvements. That count is the developer’s description of the update, not an independent audit. The announcement also says a more substantial save-handling rework and further co-op improvements are planned for Patch 1.1; no release date is established here.
