Where you can watch a Tampa Bay Lightning game depends on your location and that game’s broadcast: local regional games, national broadcasts and out-of-market games can have different viewing options. In the Tampa Bay broadcast territory, local games are available over the air, through participating cable or satellite providers, or with a paid subscription in the official Lightning app. Check the game’s listing and your ZIP code before subscribing; no single option listed here carries every game.
Start with your location and the game listing
First determine whether you will watch inside the Lightning’s broadcast territory, elsewhere in the United States, or outside the United States. Then check the listing for the specific game: a national broadcast may not be available through the same service as a regional game, and replay access can differ from live access. The NHL’s US viewing guide also provides country-specific guidance for viewers outside the United States; check the guidance for your country because international rights are not detailed here.
Watching local games in the Tampa Bay area
For 2026–27, Tampa Bay’s regional broadcasts are produced with Scripps Sports. The team lists three local routes: free over-the-air reception, cable or satellite, and a paid subscription through the official Tampa Bay Lightning app. The team’s 2026–27 viewing guide has a ZIP-code lookup to check whether the app is available at your viewing location.
Over the air and on cable
In Tampa, the team guide names Scripps’ The Spot on WXTP-TV: channel 66.1 over the air and channel 66 on cable. Provider channel numbers vary. The guide’s Tampa-area examples are DirecTV and DirecTV Stream 66, Charter/Spectrum 17, Frontier 23, Summit Broadband 9, and Advanced Cable (Blue Stream) 5. Confirm the channel with your provider and check the game listing, since channel availability can change.

To receive the over-the-air signal, you may need an HD antenna. The team names the Channel Master Flatenna 35/Duo and Mohu Leaf Indoor HD TV Antenna as options. Reception depends on your address and local signal conditions, so check likely station reception before choosing this route. An antenna receives the over-the-air local broadcast; it does not provide games carried only through a cable or streaming service.
Official Lightning app subscription
The Lightning lists the local app subscription at $66 per season for the 2026–27 season. Availability depends on the broadcast territory, so use the team’s ZIP-code lookup before paying. The team guide lists support for iOS, Android, Fire TV, Apple TV and Roku; check the current app listing for device compatibility. The app’s regional and national blackout rules also mean it is not an all-games pass.

- ESPN+ games: stream on ESPN+ and Hulu.
- TNT games: watch on TNT or stream through Watch TNT and HBO Max.
- ESPN games: stream in the ESPN app.
- ABC games: stream in the ESPN app.
- Regional games outside the local market: the NHL lists NHL Center Ice and ESPN+ as options. Certain regional games shown on NHL Network outside local markets are not available on ESPN+.
These are category-level routes, not a guarantee that a particular game is included with a particular subscription. Check the game’s broadcaster and local availability in the NHL US viewing guide before subscribing.

The Lightning app’s on-demand library typically gets games broadcast directly on the app less than one hour after the live broadcast ends. The team says nationally broadcast games that are subject to blackout are not available as replays on that platform. See the Lightning replay guidance for the app’s current policy.

Use the game tile for pause, rewind and fast-forward
In the app, select the specific game tile if you want playback controls. The team’s playback FAQ says the continuous “Watch Live” feed does not support pause, rewind or fast-forward. It describes an approximately two-hour live buffer and warns that pausing for roughly more than ten minutes may cause the buffer to time out. A full replay is a separate on-demand option after the live broadcast.

Quick decision guide
- Watching in the local broadcast territory: check the game listing, then choose over-the-air reception, a participating provider, or the Lightning app if your ZIP code is eligible.
- Watching elsewhere in the United States: check whether the game is a national broadcast or an out-of-market regional game, then verify the listed service and any blackout restrictions.
- Watching outside the United States: use the NHL’s country-specific guidance and confirm the rights holder for your country.
- Wanting a replay: check the Lightning app’s on-demand library for games broadcast directly on the app; national blackouts can prevent replay access there.
