Game covers
ORBIT’s project author says the console downloads covers over HTTPS from xlenore/ps2-covers and stores the cover files on the USB drive. The author presents this as a way to avoid preparing covers with a PC tool or installing a prebuilt cover pack. 3D save icons
The announced 3D icon feature reads the newest save for each game from a memory card and displays that save’s icon spinning on the game’s library card. The source does not identify a required memory-card model or say that a new card is needed; it only establishes that the feature draws on saves stored on a memory card.
Basic ORBIT installation context
The announcement’s setup outline is to extract ORBIT to a FAT32- or exFAT-formatted USB drive, place ISO files in a folder named DVD/, then launch launcher.elf from uLaunchELF or configure it as FreeMcBoot autoboot. On first boot, ORBIT writes a commented config.ini. These are the basic setup details the announcement supplies; it does not explain whether any additional setup is needed for cover downloads or 3D icons.

What to verify before following exact feature steps
The project announcement links a written guide, but that guide and the source repository could not be retrieved for verification. The exact UI labels, any configuration keys, whether there is an icon or cover refresh action, and save compatibility are therefore not established here. Check the current ORBIT build and a working guide before changing configuration or relying on a particular menu sequence.
The announcement also cautions that network game loading with Neutrino’s UDP transport needs a cable at both ends because Wi-Fi packet loss can cause problems. That limitation concerns network game loading, not the stated USB cover-download path.
