Blaidd’s quest follows his search for Starscourge Radahn and is closely tied to Ranni’s storyline. Start by using Finger Snap at Mistwood Ruins, then follow the route below; if you have already advanced the main story, use the location guide to find the next relevant step. Blaidd’s summon for the Darriwil fight is optional.
Complete Blaidd’s quest step by step
1. Call Blaidd at Mistwood Ruins
- Visit Mistwood Ruins in Limgrave and listen for Blaidd’s howl.
- Go to the Church of Elleh and ask Merchant Kalé about the howl. He teaches you the Finger Snap gesture.
- Return to Mistwood Ruins and use Finger Snap to call Blaidd down. Speak with him until his dialogue repeats.
2. Defeat Darriwil at Forlorn Hound Evergaol
Find Bloodhound Knight Darriwil at Forlorn Hound Evergaol in Limgrave. Blaidd can be summoned to help, but you do not need his assistance to complete this fight. After defeating Darriwil, speak with Blaidd outside the Evergaol. He gives you a Somber Smithing Stone (2) and directs you to Smithing Master Iji.
Tell Iji that Blaidd sent you. This unlocks the Carian Filigreed Crest for purchase; the talisman reduces the FP cost of skills.
3. Join Ranni at Ranni’s Rise
Reach Caria Manor in northwest Liurnia and proceed to Ranni’s Rise in the Three Sisters. Agree to serve Ranni, then speak with her spectral retainers until their dialogue is exhausted.

Enter the underground Siofra River area through the Siofra River Well in Mistwood. Blaidd waits near the cliff by Hallowhorn Grounds. Speak with him, then follow the information trail: talk to Seluvis, deliver Seluvis’s introduction to Sorceress Sellen at Waypoint Ruins, and return to Blaidd with what you learn about Radahn.
5. Defeat Starscourge Radahn
Travel to Redmane Castle in Caelid and defeat Starscourge Radahn. Blaidd may be available as a summon during the battle. Radahn’s defeat opens the route to Nokron through the fallen-star crater in Limgrave.
6. Free Blaidd from the Evergaol
After Radahn’s defeat, return to Forlorn Hound Evergaol. Interact with its center and choose to release Blaidd from the prison.
7. Finish Ranni’s quest and face Blaidd
Continue Ranni’s quest through Nokron, including retrieving the Fingerslayer Blade, and progress through the later stages of her storyline. When you return to Ranni’s Rise near the end of her quest, Blaidd is outside and hostile. Defeat him to complete his quest.

Rewards: Blaidd’s gear and the separate Wolf Mask
Blaidd drops his armor pieces and the Royal Greatsword when defeated outside Ranni’s Rise. The Black Wolf Mask is a separate pickup, found on a corpse near or behind Seluvis’s Rise; it does not drop from Blaidd.
If Blaidd is missing
His location changes as the related story advances, and some encounters can be skipped through story progression. Check the stage that matches your progress rather than assuming you must see every meeting. If Radahn is already dead, check Forlorn Hound Evergaol for the release step, then continue Ranni’s quest if you have not completed it.
