Does it work with modern TVs, and what is in the box?
The product page lists HDMI output for connecting the Sprint to modern TVs and monitors. It describes two wireless controllers based on the classic disc design; they recharge by docking with the console. The supplied overlays are intended for controller use, with two overlays per game, double-sided. Intellivision Sprint product page
| Listed package item | What the product page says |
|---|---|
| Console | Intellivision Sprint console |
| Controllers | Two wireless controllers |
| Overlays | 92 one-sided controller overlays |
| Games | 45 built-in games |
| Power | USB power adapter; the page explicitly says an AC adapter is not included |
| Video cable | HDMI cable |
The wording about power matters: a USB power adapter is listed, but a wall AC adapter is not. The product page does not provide an adapter specification here, so check manufacturer guidance before choosing a separate power supply.
Can the Sprint play original Intellivision cartridges or use old controllers?
The product page does not state that the Sprint accepts original game cartridges, so cartridge compatibility should not be assumed. It does say the USB-A port can connect original Intellivision II controllers with an adapter. The page also mentions additional games sold separately, but does not specify the delivery method, supported accessories beyond that controller use, or a complete compatibility list. How does the Sprint differ from the original Intellivision and Amico?
Mattel Electronics released the first Intellivision home console in 1979. Atari’s 2024 announcement estimated 5 million platform sales through 1990; that is Atari’s estimate, not an independently verified sales audit. Atari’s acquisition announcement

Compared with the original system, the Sprint’s stated modernization is practical: HDMI for current displays and wireless, rechargeable controllers, plus a defined built-in library. The original console’s software access is not a like-for-like comparison here because cartridge support for the Sprint is not established. For original Intellivision II controllers, the product page specifies a USB-A connection with an adapter.
Atari announced on May 23, 2024 that it had acquired the Intellivision brand and certain games from Intellivision Entertainment LLC. Atari said the purchase included the Intellivision trademarks and rights to more than 200 titles. It also said Intellivision Entertainment LLC would be licensed to continue distributing new versions of Intellivision games on its Amico platform. The Sprint is therefore Atari’s modern Intellivision product, while that announcement describes a continuing licensed role for Amico; it does not make the two systems interchangeable.
