To complete A Beggar’s Tale in Dragon’s Dogma 2, start at the Vernworth Merchant’s Quarter fountain, follow Albert to Walter’s Tavern and his house in the Common Quarter, then enter the house after he leaves to collect the Beggar’s Garb. You can give the garb to Celina, Hilda, or Albert; each choice has a different reported reward.
How to start A Beggar’s Tale
During the day, go to the fountain in Vernworth’s Merchant’s Quarter and speak to the nearby onlooker, commonly identified as Benton. This begins the investigation into Albert, a beggar whose apparent wealth puzzles the people around him. The quest description in Kiranico’s quest listing describes him as doing well despite his meager means.

How to follow Albert and get the Beggar’s Garb
- Wait at the fountain. Stay nearby until Albert finishes telling stories and starts moving. Follow him to Walter’s Tavern in the Slums. Guides caution that this wait is not easily skipped by advancing time.
- Watch the tavern. Note where Celina is. Wait until Albert leaves around nightfall, then follow him to his house in the Common Quarter.
- Enter after Albert leaves. The house is inaccessible while he is inside. Once he goes out, enter and collect the Beggar’s Garb. Some guides describe a limited opportunity to get inside; if the item is unavailable, return around dusk on another day.
- Optionally follow him again. To find Hilda, continue following Albert after the house to Baldwin’s Estate in the Noble Quarter.

Who should receive the Beggar’s Garb?
The recipient determines the reported reward and story outcome. PowerPyx’s March 27, 2024 guide reports the following rewards. These are in-game quest rewards, not real-world statistics.

The Noonbloom amount is not consistent across guides: Game8’s quest index lists three, while PowerPyx lists one. The available accounts do not establish which count is correct, so treat the quantity as uncertain. See Game8’s quest index alongside the PowerPyx reward listing rather than relying on an unqualified count.
When to check for follow-up dialogue
Some branches have follow-up dialogue or a reward after a few in-game days. Guides differ on the exact wait, so no precise number of days is established. If you have delivered the garb and nothing else happens immediately, return to the relevant character later and check for new dialogue. The community wiki’s quest account describes a delayed Hilda follow-up.
