What the post actually claims
In a first-person Reddit post dated September 26, 2026, an unidentified author says they loaded and ran a custom program directly on a Hasselblad X2D, and experimented with camera UI modifications. The author also says an open-source project is planned. The post does not establish that a repository has since been published, or explain enough about the loading process to make the experiment reproducible.
There is no report in the post that Doom is already running. A commenter wrote, “Looking forward to playing Doom on my X2D,” expressing anticipation rather than confirming a completed port. The evidence therefore supports a report of custom code running on the camera—not the headline claim that Doom has been ported.
Why the camera is described as an $8,000 X2D

The X2D 100C is a mirrorless medium-format camera. Its official datasheet specifies a 43.8 × 32.9 mm sensor and a USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-C connection with transfer speeds of up to 10 Gbit/s. - A Doom port: The post does not say Doom has been ported or demonstrated on the X2D.
- A public release: The author said an open-source release was planned; that statement alone does not confirm that code is available now.
- Independent verification: The account is first-person and anonymous in the available post. It does not establish independent reproduction or whether the experiment is safe for general installation.
Until there is a public demonstration or reproducible release, it is more accurate to describe this as a reported camera software experiment than a Doom port.
