Embark says ARC Raiders’ Frozen Trail update adds a Grappling Hook for reaching difficult-to-access places, rappelling from buildings and swinging across gaps. The update is scheduled for October 8, 2026, but the available information does not establish that the author played it for three hours. This article therefore explains the announced feature rather than presenting unverified hands-on impressions.
What the Grappling Hook is supposed to do
In its September 23 preview, Embark describes the Grappling Hook as a traversal gadget. The studio says Raiders can use it to reach hard-to-reach places, rappel from buildings and swing across large gaps. Those are announced capabilities, not independently verified findings about how the gadget handles in a match.
That description points to three intended uses: gaining access to elevated or difficult positions, descending from structures, and crossing open space. The preview does not establish its range, cooldown, resource cost, reliability, or effect on match outcomes.
What else Frozen Trail adds
Embark’s preview presents Pendola Pass as Frozen Trail’s new map and also outlines a Frigate operation, new ARC enemies, an Outpost, weapon upgrades, new weapons and other additions. The studio’s August announcement characterized Frozen Trail as its biggest update since launch; that is Embark’s description, not an independently measured comparison.

When Frozen Trail arrives and how to try ARC Raiders
Embark scheduled Frozen Trail to arrive October 8, 2026. It also announced a free-play window from October 8 at 09:00 UTC through October 12 at 08:00 UTC, 2026, on Steam, Xbox and PlayStation.
