“Banjo-Kazooie: Mumbomania” is a fan-made level inside Media Molecule’s Dreams, not a new official Rare game. You can play it through Dreams on PlayStation 4 or PlayStation 5, but it is only free to access if you already have the compatible console and the software. The official listing estimates 1–2 hours of play.
What is Banjo-Kazooie: Mumbomania?
Banjo-Kazooie: Mumbomania’s official Indreams listing describes a collectathon adventure in which Mumbo helps Banjo and Kazooie fight, collect items and transform. The creation is credited to Eupholace and one collaborator. Indreams categorizes it as a single-player 3D platformer with adventure, collectathon and puzzle elements.

This is a community-made experience built inside Dreams, rather than a standalone Banjo-Kazooie release from Rare. Inverse’s December 5, 2025 feature identifies Eupholace as William Butkevicius, a level designer at Moon Studios, and describes Mumbomania as an original sea-themed level.
What does “free” mean?
Mumbomania is a user-created experience within Dreams, not a separately sold game. But you need access to Dreams and a PlayStation 4 or PlayStation 5 to play it, according to Notebookcheck’s December 9, 2025 report. The Indreams page also links to “Buy Dreams.” So “free” describes the creation within the platform; it does not mean the hardware and software needed to reach it are free. If you already own both, you can access the level without buying a separate Mumbomania release. The available sources do not establish a current price for Dreams.

How much game is there?
The official Indreams listing estimates 1–2 hours of play. That makes Mumbomania a short fan experience, not a full-length sequel. Inverse described it as one original level and, quoting Butkevicius on December 5, 2025, reported that there were no plans at that time to add more levels. Those were the creator’s plans then, not a guarantee about future updates.
Is an official Banjo-Kazooie sequel coming?
The sources do not establish that a new official game is confirmed. Notebookcheck reported on December 9, 2025 that Rare or its parent company had not confirmed a new Banjo-Kazooie in development. On September 1, 2026, FRVR reported that composer Grant Kirkhope was hopeful and that multiple studios had pitched games to Microsoft. Pitches are not an announcement, approval or confirmation that development has started.
