The Oliver Twins have described a proposed new game based on Treasure Island Dizzy, with versions inspired by the ZX Spectrum and NES originals, a new Mega Drive iteration, and a modern update. A report from their Play Expo talk says players could switch between the four versions during play. The modern update appears to use generative AI, but the report does not identify exactly which parts of the game involve it. No release date, confirmed platforms, price, or purchase page has been announced in the report.
Is a new Dizzy game coming out?
Andrew Oliver outlined the project as a proposal during a talk at Play Expo in Blackpool on 3–4 October 2026. The event report does not establish that the game has been greenlit for release, so it is more accurate to call it a proposed new Dizzy title than a confirmed upcoming release. The source is a journalist’s account of the talk, not a formal publisher announcement. Time Extension’s report covers the project and the brothers’ comments.
The report provides no release date, storefront or purchase link, confirmed final platform list, price, or physical-edition details. Those details remain unestablished.
What versions would the project include?
The proposal draws on Treasure Island Dizzy and combines three retro-platform interpretations with a modern update. According to the talk report, players would be able to switch between all four versions during play.

| Version | What the report says |
|---|---|
| ZX Spectrum | A version based on the ZX Spectrum game. |
| NES | A version based on the NES game. |
| Mega Drive | A newly made Mega Drive iteration. |
| Modern update | A contemporary update; the report says it appears to use generative AI. |
The report describes the switching concept but gives no technical detail about how it would work or whether the versions would have feature parity. It also does not confirm which platforms, if any, would receive a finished release.
Is the new Dizzy game made with AI?
The report says project screens shown during the talk and the brothers’ discussion of AI indicated that the modern update appears to use generative AI. That is an indication, not a full disclosure of the game’s production: the report does not specify which assets or other elements were generated or assisted by AI, identify a model or vendor, or explain licensing and training-data arrangements.

The brothers’ separate project, Journey to the Emerald City, was described as openly using generative AI. That explicit description concerns a different project and should not be taken as a detailed confirmation of AI use across the Dizzy game. Time Extension reported the Dizzy project’s AI connection as apparent rather than providing an exhaustive statement from the creators.

Andrew Oliver described AI tools as a way to return to game-making. In quotations reported by Time Extension, he said: “I am absolutely loving getting back into making games, and I can say that it is 100% my work at a computer, using some AI.” He also said, “if I didn’t have these powerful tools, I wouldn’t do it at all.”
Philip Oliver addressed the need for limits on how AI systems are trained: “I believe that there should be regulations about what AI is trained on.” The remarks were recorded in a journalist’s account of a live Q&A; Time Extension says responses were edited for brevity and clarity, so these are reported quotations rather than a certified verbatim transcript.
