A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead turns the films’ silence-and-danger premise into a first-person stealth adventure: move carefully, use distractions, and avoid making noise around creatures that hunt by sound. Critics have generally praised its atmosphere and sound design, while recurring reservations include slow pacing and repetitive stealth. It is a short, linear single-player game—not a retelling of the films—and whether its tension holds depends on how much you enjoy cautious, repeated stealth play.
Does the sound-based stealth make a good horror game?
Sound is the central survival mechanic. The creatures’ acute hearing makes movement and environmental hazards consequential, so the basic loop is to hide, distract threats, and find safer ways through an area. The concept gives ordinary actions—such as moving past a hazard—a horror-game purpose: noise can expose Alex to danger.

Saber Interactive’s free day-one update added optional Microphone Noise Detection. When enabled, real-world microphone input can become in-game sound, bringing the player’s own noise into the stealth system. It is an optional feature, not a requirement for playing.

The other side of that design is repetition: review coverage also raises concerns about slow pacing and stealth that does not vary enough to sustain its tension for everyone. Those are recurring critical assessments, not a guarantee of how every player will respond.
#1 Best Overall
- The initial physical run will include the Hospital Care Package (3 inhalers and 2 batteries), exclusive concept art, and a creature animation showcase.
- Unnerving Atmosphere -- Experience absolute terror as you strive for silence when hiding from, and sneaking by, horrific creatures who hunt using only sound.
- Untold Story -- Embark on a dramatic adventure inspired by the A Quiet Place movie franchise as a young survivor trying to navigate the new, eerily tranquil, post-apocalyptic landscape.
- Uncanny Ingenuity -- Discover your own path through the world by observing your environment and leveraging the tools in your surroundings.
Is it a faithful adaptation of the films?
The game uses the A Quiet Place universe and its sound-sensitive creatures, but tells an original story rather than retelling either film. The publisher describes Alex as a young college student with asthma, trying to survive the apocalypse and find safety for herself and her family. That premise puts a vulnerable protagonist inside the franchise’s familiar threat without requiring the game to replay the movies’ events.
Reviewers have highlighted its atmosphere and use of the franchise premise as strengths. For a player seeking the films’ distinctive quiet-under-threat feeling in an interactive form, that is the clearest point of appeal. The game’s more limited stealth variety and slower pace may matter more to someone expecting a mechanically varied action game.
How long is it, and what replay options are there?
Saber Interactive’s support FAQ estimates an 8–10 hour playthrough, depending on play style. This is the publisher’s estimate, not a measured average. The FAQ confirms single-player narrative play and says there is no New Game+. It also lists multiple difficulty modes and dynamic creature AI as sources of variation between runs.

- Brand new. UK Import PAL version. Game in English. UK PSN account may be required for any online features.
That makes the format best suited to players looking for a focused horror campaign rather than an ongoing game or a long progression loop. The available information does not establish that the difficulty modes or AI variation substantially change the campaign’s structure.
