Where to find and start A Trial for All Seasons
Look for a clearing near the Driftwood Fields waypoint on Reaper’s Coast. Four statues surround the central brazier, The Tongue of Flame. Speak to or use the brazier to begin the trial; one walkthrough specifies speaking to it as an elf. Guides4Gamers and GameFAQs describe the location and start.

What each seasonal statue needs
Each statue responds to an environmental effect, not simply an elemental attack. Use the effect listed for its season; the examples below are alternative ways to produce it.

The sequence is corroborated by Guides4Gamers, GameFAQs, and Gamepressure. GameFAQs also gives an arrow-based route: Freezing Arrow for Winter; Fire Arrow, Water Arrow, then Shocking Arrow for Autumn; Fire Arrow followed by Vaporise for Summer; and Flesh Sacrifice for Spring.

How to activate all four statues reliably
- Check your available skills and arrows. Choose one method for each required effect; the listed spells are options, not exclusive solutions.
- Prepare the short-lived effects before the last activation. A GameFAQs walkthrough reports that on Tactician difficulty all four effects may need to be active at the same time for the test to register. It notes that blood persists while the other effects are short-lived. Save beforehand, and arrange the sequence so you can create the temporary clouds or surfaces close together.
- Trigger each statue with its matching effect. If a statue does not register, check that you created the required surface or cloud rather than only hitting it with an element. For Autumn, make steam first and then electrify it.
The simultaneous-effect condition is reported by the GameFAQs walkthrough; Guides4Gamers and Gamepressure do not discuss a difficulty-specific timing requirement. The guides do not establish a different puzzle mechanic for Classic versus Definitive Edition.
What happens after the trial activates
When all four totems are activated, four elven challengers appear and combat begins. Guides4Gamers describes the challengers as level 14 and says each has a different elemental immunity, so avoid assuming one element will work equally well against all four. Defeat them, then return to the brazier and chest for the reward. Guides4Gamers and Gamepressure cover the fight and reward.

Reward: Phoenix Heart
The reward includes a Phoenix Heart and the contents of the chest. When an elf consumes the heart, it teaches the skill Flaming Tongues. The available guides report conflicting experience totals—one gives 15,775 XP, while another separates 83,100 XP for defeating the challengers and 51,900 XP for quest completion—so there is no reliable single total to quote without checking the relevant in-game version.
