To choose well, check each ritual’s trigger and effect, then weigh how reliably it fits your current moves and build. The community-maintained ritual reference describes four ritual types, eight families, unlock milestones, and ways rituals can level up or interact; exact values and some unlock details should be checked in your current game.
What rituals do
Rituals add capabilities or modify attacks and other combat effects during a run. They fit into a combat system built around combos, spells, counters, and items: the official Absolum website describes strategies that change from run to run, but does not document ritual rules. The categories and mechanics below come from the community-maintained Absolum Wiki.gg ritual reference.

Four types of ritual
- Core: Adds a family’s signature mechanic to attacks or moves.
- General: Provides a broader player upgrade themed to a family.
- Enhancement: Strengthens one of a family’s mechanics. It often requires a related ritual before it can appear.
- Twin: Combines effects from two families and requires rituals from both families in your build.
Ritual families and reported unlocks
The Wiki.gg reference lists eight families and associates each with a starting condition, region, or progression milestone. Treat these as a roadmap rather than a guarantee: route-sensitive or patch-sensitive details are not independently confirmed here.

Where and when ritual choices appear
According to the ritual reference, rituals are usually offered at the end of a regular scene that is neither a boss encounter nor a story scene. The usual offer is a choice of two; an upgrade can raise the selection to three. Fallen hunters, selected shops, and NPCs are listed as other possible sources.
#1 Best Overall
- Includes Digital Soundtrack by composer Gareth Coker
- Absolum combines Dotemu and Guard Crush’s mastery in beat ‘em up gameplay with Supamonks' best-in-class art and animation
- Absolum will challenge you with multiple paths to explore and unpredictable encounters for a new experience each time you play
- Meet the outcast heroes of Talamh, each with their unique fighting style.
- Lead the uprising against Azra's regime as a lone hero, or team up with a friend on your couch or online
A run normally offers no more than three ritual families, according to the same reference. Buying a ritual from outside the run’s current selection can add another family to the pool. That matters for Twin rituals: acquiring one may require building access to both associated families, rather than simply waiting for the option to appear.
Levels, repeated rituals, and stacking
Raising a ritual’s level
Non-Twin rituals can be acquired repeatedly up to level 3, with further acquisitions strengthening the effect. The Wiki.gg reference says level 2 is usually about 50% stronger than base and level 3 usually about 100% stronger, but it also warns that the pattern varies. Do not assume those percentages apply to a particular ritual; use its displayed description. Some Soul Tree upgrades can allow higher-level rituals to appear immediately.

Stacking related effects
Stacking is different from leveling: separate rituals can enhance the same mechanic. As a specific example, the Wiki.gg reference says that two level-1 rituals invoking tidal waves raise the small wave’s damage from 4 to 6 and its pushback from 20% to 30%. Those figures describe that example, not a universal stacking formula.

The reference also describes Ritual Power as a hidden family stat affected by certain trinkets, including Moxes and the Crown of Harmony, with effects that can compound multiplicatively. Because this is a community-reference account and individual interactions vary, check the current in-game text rather than extrapolating a hidden-stat formula to every ritual.

How to choose between rituals
There is no documented universal ranking that makes one ritual the best choice in every run. Compare the actual options against your character, moves, existing effects, and the way you play.
- Read the trigger. Identify what activates the effect: for example, a strike, dash, deflect, jump, or critical hit. Consider whether you can trigger it consistently.
- Match the trigger to your character and moves. The official website identifies Galandra, Karl, Cider, and Brome as playable characters with distinct weapon or spellcasting styles. That variety makes a trigger’s practical fit more useful than a character-agnostic ranking; it does not establish that a specific ritual has been tested with a specific character.
- Check for a mechanic you already use. If your build creates a status, projectile, summon, or other effect, an Enhancement or another ritual that interacts with it may reinforce that mechanic. The payoff depends on the individual effect.
- Choose between depth and breadth. Repeating a non-Twin ritual raises its level, while different rituals can stack on a shared mechanic. Compare that investment with adding a new capability that covers a weakness in your run.
- Account for Twin prerequisites. A Twin option depends on rituals from both associated families being present in your build. Consider it when both sides are already available, rather than treating it as a dependable early-run plan.
- Use the displayed description for exact values. The reference’s broad level patterns and one stacking example do not establish exact values for every ritual. Recheck descriptions in your current game, particularly after an update.
What is confirmed—and what to verify in-game
The official site supports the game’s broader combat framing and playable-character roster, but it does not explain the ritual system. Family definitions, reported unlocks, choice sources, level behavior, and the named stacking example are attributed to the community-maintained Wiki.gg reference. Direct access to that reference was unavailable for independent confirmation, so its details should not be treated as official patch documentation or as a complete list of edge cases. Exact current ritual values and update-specific changes are not established here.
