Dotemu announced Absolum for October 9, 2025, and revealed Brome as a new playable character. Dotemu later reported that the game was available starting September 10, 2025, so the October date is the original announcement—not the date it ultimately became available, according to the publisher’s later notice.
When did Absolum come out?
On August 19, 2025, Dotemu announced an October 9 digital release for Absolum. Its later launch notice, dated September 10, said the game was available from that day. The notices therefore give different dates: October 9 was the date announced in August, while September 10 was the earlier availability date reported afterward by Dotemu. Dotemu’s August 19 announcement and its September 10 launch notice document the distinction.

Who is Brome, the new playable character?
Brome is a Mowlaï, which Dotemu describes as a humanoid frog, and has innate magical ability. In the release-date trailer announcement, the publisher says he uses a staff for melee combos, ranged attacks, and area-of-effect spells. It also describes levitation as his way of traveling and says he can glide in a hoverboard-like fashion. These are publisher descriptions, not hands-on assessments of his moves.

Which characters can you play?
Dotemu’s September 18, 2025 gameplay announcement names four playable warriors: Galandra, Karl, Cider, and Brome. It says each has distinct skills and motivations, but the announcement provides the detailed combat description for Brome; it does not offer equivalent move-by-move descriptions for the other three.
The publisher presents Absolum as a run-based fantasy adventure with roguelite elements and a modern take on beat ’em ups. Runs can include branching paths, quests, and bosses, while unlockable items and permanent warrior upgrades carry progression forward. Dotemu’s gameplay announcement

What platforms was Absolum announced for?
Dotemu’s August announcement listed PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and PlayStation 4. The publisher repeated those platforms in its September launch notice. This is the platform list in those 2025 announcements, not a complete statement of availability as of 2026.

Was there a physical edition?
Arc System Works lists a physical Nintendo Switch release date of November 6, 2025, distinct from the digital date shown on the same page. That listing establishes the edition and stated date, but not current stock or retailer availability.
