In a February 2026 hands-on report, a reviewer with medium-sized hands found the sticks too low to reach comfortably while gripping the controller, making quick inputs to the D-pad and lower system buttons awkward too. That account concerns a functioning prototype—not a confirmed flaw in the retail N6 now listed by Abxylute.
What is the problem with the N6 prototype?
The issue is control reach and grip confidence, particularly when a game calls for quick reactions. The reviewer said the left and right sticks sat too low for comfortable use while holding the grips. Reaching the D-pad and lower system buttons was also difficult, and some games required a precarious claw grip.
That is an ergonomic criticism, not a report that the controller failed to function. It matters most when a player needs to keep a secure hold while moving a thumb between controls or making fast inputs.
Who might notice it most?
The February 22, 2026 GNN Web Desk account reflects one reviewer’s experience, not a measured ergonomic study or a representative survey. The reviewer had medium-sized hands. The report suggests players with larger hands could find the reach problem more pronounced; people with smaller hands, or those playing games that do not demand rapid inputs, might notice it less.

Those are useful fit considerations, not a guarantee of how the N6 will feel to any particular player. Hand size, grip, and the controls a game uses can all affect whether the layout feels comfortable.
Does the retail N6 have the same issue?
That has not been established by the sources available here. Abxylute currently lists an N6 Deck Controller for Nintendo Switch 2, but a product listing alone does not show whether the retail unit has the same dimensions or control placement as the prototype in the hands-on report. Do not treat the prototype criticism as a confirmed assessment of the retail controller.

What else did the prototype offer?
The hands-on account also described features that may appeal to players, including full-size Hall effect sticks, vibration, motion controls, customizable rear paddles, and turbo mode. Those features do not resolve the reported reach concern: a controller can offer a broad feature set and still feel awkward to hold or use quickly.
Abxylute’s buying guide describes USB-C connection, pass-through charging, and a battery-free design. These are manufacturer descriptions, not independent test findings in the available reporting.

What should buyers check before choosing one?
If you are considering the retail N6, prioritize evidence about the exact unit you would buy rather than assuming the prototype and retail versions are identical. A hands-on check is especially useful if you have larger hands or play games that require frequent, fast inputs.

- Try repeated or rapid inputs, not just a brief static hold, and notice whether you feel secure while reaching.
