In Abyss, the Whale is reported in a cavern behind the large tree near the back of Spirit Roots. Its appearance is not guaranteed, and no verified player-triggered summon or spawn timer is documented. If the cavern is empty, a guide suggests switching servers and checking again. The Whale is a hostile mini-boss, not a catchable fish; prepare for a fight with enough damage, oxygen capacity and a clear retreat route.
Where to find the Whale in Abyss
Travel to Spirit Roots and look for the cavern behind the large tree landmark toward the back of the biome. A second guide describes the spot as the far eastern end of the map. These descriptions point to the same general area, but neither supplies a more precise route or coordinates. Nerd’s Chalk’s Whale guide was updated February 19, 2026; Game8’s location guide, dated February 23, 2026, cautions that it may not cover changes after the Jungle update.
How to spawn the Whale—and what to do if it is missing
Available guides describe the Whale as a random or non-guaranteed spawn. They do not establish a reliable way to force it to appear, a summon item, or a spawn timer. If you reach the cavern and find it empty, the practical suggestion from Nerd’s Chalk is to switch servers and check another one. Treat that as a community search strategy, not a confirmed way to increase spawn odds.
How to prepare for the Whale fight
The fight can consume oxygen while you deal damage, so plan for both the length of the encounter and a safe way to disengage. The recommendations below come from a secondary game guide, not official developer instructions.

- Each gift card grants a free virtual item upon redemption.
- Damage: Nerd’s Chalk recommends 180 or more damage per shot and damage-boosting artifacts. That is one guide’s target, not a verified minimum requirement.
- Oxygen: Start with a full oxygen supply, use a high-capacity tube such as the Oxy Tube, and bring oxygen tanks for recovery.
- Escape and positioning: Know your retreat route before engaging so you have an option if oxygen or health becomes a problem.
- Attack rhythm: Keep damage steady and avoid unnecessary movement or reload gaps where possible; the guide presents this as tactical advice rather than a guaranteed strategy.
The community wiki reports that a Whale bite removes 90 oxygen. Because this value comes from a community-wiki entry rather than an official source, use it as a warning to preserve oxygen margin, not as a confirmed current stat. Abyss Wiki’s Whale page is marked as a stub.
How to kill the Whale and collect Whale Meat
Once the Whale appears, attack while monitoring oxygen and keeping your retreat route available. After defeating it, look around the fight area: Nerd’s Chalk says the drops scatter nearby, so collect the pieces rather than assuming they land in one spot.

The community wiki reports three Whale Meat pieces as the usual drop, with a 15% chance that one piece is replaced by a Whale Head. It lists Whale Meat at $40 per kg and Whale Head at $80 per kg. These are community-wiki game values, not official or independently verified current figures.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What happens to drops in co-op?
The community wiki and its update-log excerpt associate rewards with damage contribution: one says the three highest-damage players share drops, while the other describes three pieces distributed among top damage dealers. The wording does not establish a dependable item-by-item guarantee for every player who contributes. If you are fighting in a group, do not assume that all participants will receive the same drop.
