AC Valhalla Flickering or Crashing on Xbox After TU 1.5.1: What Ubisoft’s Notes Say

Ubisoft’s April 2022 TU 1.5.1 notes include broad stability and graphics fixes, but do not confirm an Xbox flickering or general-crashing defect.

Ubisoft’s April 19, 2022, notes for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Title Update 1.5.1 list general performance and stability improvements and several graphics fixes, but they do not identify Xbox flickering or general crashing as defects caused by the update. The timing in a player’s report is not, by itself, proof of the cause.

What TU 1.5.1 says about Xbox

Ubisoft said Title Update 1.5.1 would deploy across supported platforms on April 19, 2022. Its notice gave approximate download sizes of 9.0 GB for Xbox Series X|S and 8.2 GB for Xbox One. Those figures are patch download sizes, not performance or crash statistics. Ubisoft’s TU 1.5.1 notice lists several categories of fixes, but does not specifically name Xbox flickering or general Xbox crashes.

Performance and stability

The base-game notes say Ubisoft “Added performance and stability improvements.” The Dawn of Ragnarök notes also mention performance and stability improvements and FPS drops in some scenes. These broad entries do not identify a particular Xbox crash or display-flicker problem, so they cannot establish that TU 1.5.1 fixed either symptom.

Graphics and flashing light

Ubisoft lists graphics issues in various cutscenes, numerous graphics, texture, animation, or lighting issues, and reduced flashing light in certain dialogue scenes. The last item is limited to certain dialogue scenes; the notes do not describe it as a general display-flicker fix or an Xbox-specific correction.

What the Xbox Quick Resume note means

In the Dawn of Ragnarök section, Ubisoft says a “Failed to Save Game Progress” message could appear when resuming through Quick Resume on Xbox consoles. That is a save-message symptom. The note does not connect it to screen flickering or general crashes, and it should not be treated as confirmation that either symptom was an identified TU 1.5.1 Xbox bug.

Why a later PS5 crash note does not answer the Xbox question

Ubisoft’s December 5, 2022, TU 1.6.2 notes mention crashes on PS5 during the quests “Restless Dreams” and “Beyond Fear,” alongside additional stability improvements. That later entry is specific to PS5 and those quests; it does not establish a cause or remedy for Xbox flickering or crashing after TU 1.5.1. Ubisoft’s TU 1.6.2 notice

What Xbox players can conclude

  • If flickering or crashing began after installing TU 1.5.1, that describes when the problem appeared, but the cited official notes do not prove the update caused it.
  • The patch notes document broad stability and graphics work, not a targeted Xbox fix for the symptoms in the title.
  • The Quick Resume item concerns a failed-save message in Dawn of Ragnarök, not flickering or crashes.
  • The available notes do not provide a symptom-specific troubleshooting sequence for Xbox players reporting these problems.

Accordingly, the official documentation supports a limited conclusion: TU 1.5.1 included general improvements and specific fixes, but Ubisoft’s notes do not confirm an Xbox flickering or general-crashing issue tied to that update.
