Academia: School Simulator is a single-player school-management game in which you build and operate a high school. You lay out facilities, hire staff, manage students’ needs and finances, and choose between budget-limited play and an open-ended sandbox. It is sold digitally through Steam; check the current store listing for regional price and compatibility details.
What kind of game is Academia: School Simulator?
Released on September 8, 2017, Academia: School Simulator was developed by Squeaky Wheel Studio Inc and published by Paradox Interactive. It is a tycoon-style management game rather than a story-led or action-focused title: the central task is to design a school and keep its day-to-day systems working. Steam’s game listing identifies the developers, publisher, release date and features.
What do you manage?
You decide how the school is built and staffed, set budget priorities, and respond to student needs and events. Facilities can include science labs, basketball courts, art rooms, counseling spaces, detention areas and toilets. The challenge is balancing the school’s physical layout and services with its finances and the people using them.
Students and staff
Students have needs including hygiene, hunger and discipline, which affect motivation. Teachers have subject specialties and degrees; the publisher also describes teaching styles, goals, specializations and motivation as part of the management picture. These systems make staffing and student welfare part of the same operational problem: facilities alone do not run a successful school.

Normal mode or sandbox?
The two listed modes serve different preferences:
| Mode | What it offers | Best fit |
|---|---|---|
| Normal | Budget constraints shape school-building and management decisions. | Players who want financial limits to be part of the challenge. |
| Sandbox | Unlimited money supports open-ended construction. | Players who want to experiment with layouts without a cash constraint. |
These mode descriptions come from the Steam listing. Choose based on whether balancing a budget is appealing or whether you primarily want freedom to build.

Where can you buy it, and is it worth considering?
The publisher identifies Steam as the platform and describes the purchase as a Steam key. The official pages reviewed establish a digital Steam product; they do not establish a physical edition. Price and user-review figures can change, so check the live listing in your region rather than relying on a fixed price or an old rating.
This is a natural fit if you enjoy hands-on construction combined with operational management: choosing facilities, overseeing staff and students, and making trade-offs around budgets and needs. If you want a narrative campaign or action-led play, its core school-management loop may not match that preference. The two modes offer a useful choice between constrained management and unconstrained building.
