Identify the Autodesk installation first
Before changing anything, find the application named in the error and confirm its installed release.

To identify the application:
- Right-click the shortcut that fails.
- Select Properties.
- Read the Target field and note the executable path.
- Open Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
- Search for Autodesk and record the exact product name.
- If the product is not listed, check Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features.
A reported AutoCAD error may read:

The capitalisation may vary. If the message says that the “specified module could not be found,” Windows may have found acge19.dll but failed to load another library that it requires.
Fix 1: Repair the affected Autodesk product
Repair is the safest first step for Autodesk products that use the classic installer, generally AutoCAD 2021 and earlier.
- Close AutoCAD, Revit, and other Autodesk applications.
- Press Windows key + R.
- Type
appwiz.cpland press Enter. - Select the Autodesk product that produced the error.
- Click Uninstall/Change.
- In the Autodesk maintenance window, select Repair.
- Follow the prompts and allow the operation to finish.
- Restart Windows.
- Launch the same Autodesk application again.
Repair restores missing or damaged product files while preserving the existing installation where possible. If the application starts normally, the repair restored the file or one of its related dependencies.

If Repair is unavailable or reports that it cannot complete:
- Open Control Panel > Programs and Features again.
- Select the same Autodesk product.
- Choose Uninstall/Change.
- Select Reinstall, if that option is offered.
- Provide the original installation media or the official Autodesk installer when requested.
- Restart Windows and test the application.
Use an installer for the exact Autodesk product and release shown in your account or original media. Do not use an AutoCAD installer to repair a separately installed Object Enabler or vertical product.
Fix 2: Reinstall newer Autodesk software
Autodesk products using the newer installation experience, generally 2022 and later, may not provide the older Control Panel repair option. For these products, uninstall and reinstall from your Autodesk Account or the official installer.
- Back up custom profiles, templates, scripts, plot styles, and other settings you need.
- Open Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
- Find the affected Autodesk product.
- Select the three-dot menu beside it.
- Choose Uninstall and follow the prompts.
- Restart Windows.
- Sign in to your Autodesk Account from a browser.
- Download the same product and release assigned to your account.
- Run the installer as an administrator.
- Restart Windows after installation.
- Launch the product and verify that the error has gone.
For an older release such as a 2014 product, use the previous-version installer available through the Autodesk Account or the original installation media. If the product was installed from a separately supplied Object Enabler, reinstall that enabler as well.

If the installer itself reports missing setup files, the installer package may be incomplete or damaged. Obtain a fresh official installer rather than copying setup DLLs from another computer.
Fix 3: Check Windows Security quarantine
Security software can quarantine an Autodesk library after an update, repair, migration, or file scan. Check the quarantine before reinstalling repeatedly.

- Open Windows Security from the Start menu.
- Select Virus & threat protection.
- Choose Protection history.
- Review recent entries for the Autodesk installation folder or
acge19.dll. - Open a matching detection and inspect its path, publisher, and detection name.
- If the file is clearly part of your trusted Autodesk installation, follow your organisation’s policy before choosing Restore.
- After restoring it, run the Autodesk repair or reinstall procedure.
- Start the application again.
Do not restore a file merely because its name matches. If the path is unexpected, the publisher is unknown, or the detection concerns a modified file, leave it quarantined and reinstall Autodesk from its official source.
Fix 4: Correct a mixed or incomplete Autodesk installation
A common failure occurs when files from different Autodesk releases are mixed. This can happen after copying an application folder, restoring an old disk image, installing an Object Enabler separately, or interrupting an update.

- Open Installed apps and list every Autodesk product.
- Identify which product launches when the error appears.
- Remove that product through its normal uninstaller.
- Restart Windows.
- Reinstall the complete matching product.
- If the error belongs to an Object Enabler, reinstall the matching enabler after the base product.
- Test the application before restoring custom add-ins.
A 32-bit Autodesk application requires its 32-bit dependency set, while a 64-bit application requires the matching 64-bit set. The fact that Windows itself is 64-bit does not prove that every installed Autodesk application is 64-bit.
Fix 5: Check for a missing dependency
The message “The specified module could not be found” does not always mean that acge19.dll itself is absent. Windows may be reporting that a dependency loaded by the Autodesk library is missing.
Check the application directory:
- Right-click the Autodesk shortcut and choose Open file location.
- Look for
acge19.dllin the application or component folder. - If it is present, do not replace it with a downloaded copy.
- Run the Autodesk repair or reinstall anyway, because the related dependency set may be damaged.
- Note the complete error text if it names another DLL.
Installing a Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable is appropriate only when the complete error identifies a missing Microsoft runtime and the package matches the application. Visual C++, DirectX, or .NET is not a direct replacement for acge19.dll.

acge19.dll is a third-party Autodesk file, so Windows system-file repair is not the primary fix. Use it when several unrelated applications fail, Windows reports broader corruption, or Autodesk installation repeatedly encounters system errors.
Open an elevated Command Prompt:
- Open Start.
- Type Command Prompt.
- Right-click it and select Run as administrator.
- Run:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
- Wait for it to complete.
- Then run:
sfc /scannow
- Restart Windows.
- Retry the Autodesk repair or reinstall.
Microsoft recommends running DISM before SFC. SFC repairs protected Windows files, but it will not normally restore a missing Autodesk library.

Fix 7: Update Autodesk and relevant device drivers
An Autodesk update can replace a damaged component set, but install updates only through the product’s official update channel or Autodesk Account.

For Windows updates:
- Open Settings > Windows Update.
- Select Check for updates.
- Install applicable updates.
- Restart Windows.
- Test Autodesk again.
For graphics drivers:
- Right-click Start and select Device Manager.
- Expand Display adapters.
- Right-click the graphics adapter.
- Select Update driver.
- Choose Search automatically for drivers.
- Restart Windows if a driver is installed.
A graphics-driver update does not normally replace acge19.dll, but it can address broader Autodesk startup failures. Do not use Device Manager to replace the Autodesk DLL itself.
Manually checking several driver versions can be tedious, especially when Windows lists multiple devices. System Restore is appropriate when the problem began after a known system change and a restore point predates the failure.
- Press Windows key + R.
- Type
rstrui.exeand press Enter. - Select Next.
- Choose a restore point created before the error began.
- Select Scan for affected programs if available.
- Review the changes.
- Select Finish and allow Windows to restart.
System Restore can roll back applications, drivers, and settings, but it does not replace personal files. If normal Autodesk repair is available, use that first.

Use Autodesk’s clean-uninstall procedure only when ordinary uninstall and reinstall fail. Back up custom settings first and record every Autodesk product you intend to keep.
A clean uninstall can remove Autodesk applications, residual files, registry entries, and licensing information. Removing more than intended can break other Autodesk products, so follow Autodesk’s current product-specific instructions and reinstall only from official media afterward.
What not to do
Do not download a loose DLL
Random DLL downloads can contain malware, the wrong release, or the wrong architecture. Even a genuine copy may fail because its companion Autodesk libraries do not match. There is no verified official standalone Autodesk download intended for acge19.dll.
The safe sources are the original Autodesk installer, Autodesk Account, or the matching Object Enabler installer.
Do not copy it into System32 or SysWOW64
acge19.dll normally belongs in the Autodesk application or component directory. Copying it into C:WindowsSystem32 or C:WindowsSysWOW64 can create version conflicts and does not repair missing dependencies.
Do not use regsvr32 as a general repair command
regsvr32 is used for DLLs that expose a registration entry point such as DllRegisterServer. An Autodesk application library is normally loaded by the Autodesk executable and is not repaired by registration.

Running commands such as these is therefore not a valid fix for this error:
regsvr32 acge19.dll
If it produces an entry-point or architecture error, that is expected for a library that is not intended to be registered.

Collect this information before contacting Autodesk support or your administrator:
- Exact Autodesk product and release
- Complete error text
- The executable named in the error
- The path shown for
acge19.dll - Whether the file exists in the application directory
- Whether the issue began after an update, failed installation, cleanup, migration, or antivirus action
- Windows Security Protection History details
- Relevant Event Viewer entries under Windows Logs > Application
- Whether the Autodesk application is 32-bit or 64-bit
- Whether repair and full reinstall completed successfully
The most useful next distinction is whether the file is absent or present. If it is absent, repair or reinstall the owning Autodesk product. If it is present but cannot load, investigate the complete error for a dependency or architecture mismatch rather than replacing the file blindly.
