Repair common Windows errors and clear accumulated junk for a smoother, more stable PC - no reinstall needed.Free scan · no reinstalladdrprsr.dll is a legacy Microsoft Office Outlook file, not a Windows system DLL. If Windows reports that addrprsr.dll is missing, was not found, or could not be loaded, repair the Office installation that needs it rather than downloading the file and copying it into a system folder.
What addrprsr.dll is
The file is identified as Outlook Address Parser and is associated with Microsoft Office Outlook and Microsoft Corporation. Available public Office inventories associate it particularly with legacy Office 2003-era installations, but Microsoft does not publish a current authoritative file manifest confirming that every modern Microsoft 365 or Outlook installation contains it.

This means the normal fix is Office repair or reinstall. addrprsr.dll should not normally be placed in C:WindowsSystem32 or C:WindowsSysWOW64.
Is addrprsr.dll the same as addrpars.dll?
No. Public file inventories contain both addrprsr.dll and the similarly named addrpars.dll or ADDRPARS.DLL. Do not substitute one for the other based only on the similar spelling.

Check the exact filename in the error message and the path reported by the failing program. A legacy Office installation may require a specific file from a specific build, language, and architecture.
Error messages you may see
Reported variants include:
addrprsr.dll is missingThe program can't start because addrprsr.dll is missing from your computeraddrprsr.dll was not foundError loading addrprsr.dll. The specified module could not be foundFailed to load addrprsr.dllCannot find addrprsr.dllCannot register addrprsr.dlladdrprsr.dll Access Violation
These messages do not all mean exactly the same thing.
A missing-file message usually means the Office component was removed, damaged, quarantined, or left behind after an incomplete uninstall. “The specified module could not be found” can also mean that addrprsr.dll exists but one of its dependencies cannot be loaded. It is therefore important to identify the failing executable and the reported path before replacing anything.

Office repair is the safest and most likely solution.
Run Quick Repair
- Close Outlook, Word, Excel, and every other Office application.
- Open Start > Settings.
- Select Apps.
- Select Installed apps on Windows 11. On Windows 10, select Apps & features.
- Find Microsoft 365 or the installed Microsoft Office product.
- Select the three-dot menu beside it.
- Choose Modify.
- Select Quick Repair.
- Select Repair and approve the administrator prompt if Windows displays one.
- Restart Windows after the repair completes.
- Start Outlook again.
Quick Repair replaces damaged Office files without downloading the complete Office installation. If Outlook starts normally and the error does not return, the repair worked.
Microsoft documents these repair options in its guide to repairing an Office application.
Run Online Repair if Quick Repair fails
If addrprsr.dll is still missing:
- Return to Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
- Find Microsoft 365 or Office.
- Select the three-dot menu.
- Choose Modify.
- Select Online Repair.
- Select Repair.
- Save open documents, because Office applications may close during the process.
- Allow the repair to finish.
- Restart Windows.
- Test Outlook again.
Online Repair replaces or repairs the complete Office installation. It generally takes longer and may require internet access, administrator permission, and Office activation credentials.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
For an older MSI-based Office installation:
- Open Control Panel.
- Select Programs > Programs and Features.
- Select the Office product.
- Choose Change.
- Select Repair.
- Follow the prompts and restart Windows.
Do not run Quick Repair and Online Repair simultaneously. Complete the first repair, restart, and test before moving to the next one.
Fix 2: Check whether antivirus quarantined the file
If Outlook worked recently and the error appeared suddenly, Windows Security or another antivirus product may have quarantined an Office file.
- Open Windows Security from the Start menu.
- Select Virus & threat protection.
- Select Protection history.
- Look for an entry involving
addrprsr.dll, Outlook, or Microsoft Office. - Open the detection details.
- Check the original file path and the detection name.
Do not restore the file merely because the filename looks familiar. Restore or allow it only if you can confirm that it came from the genuine Office installation and the detection is a false positive. If the file was in an unexpected directory, was detected as malware, or repeatedly returns to quarantine, leave it blocked.
The safer response is usually to run Office Online Repair after addressing the detection. Microsoft explains Protection History in its guide to Windows Security Protection History.

Fix 3: Remove and reinstall the correct Office edition
Use a reinstall when Quick Repair and Online Repair cannot restore the component, or when multiple Office generations are installed together.
Mixing an old Office installation with newer Office files can leave broken paths, incompatible dependencies, or the wrong architecture. Do not copy files from Office 2003, Office 2007, Office 2010, or Microsoft 365 into another installation.
Uninstall Office
- Open Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
- Find each Microsoft Office or Microsoft 365 entry.
- Select the three-dot menu.
- Choose Uninstall.
- Follow the prompts.
- Restart Windows.
If the normal uninstall fails, use Microsoft’s supported Office uninstall procedure.
After removal, do not restore a downloaded addrprsr.dll. Reinstall the licensed Office edition from the Microsoft account, organization deployment source, or original installation media that belongs to that installation.
Microsoft provides installation steps for reinstalling Microsoft 365 or Office.
Choose the matching architecture
A legacy 32-bit Office component cannot be made compatible simply by placing it in a 64-bit Windows directory. Windows itself may be 64-bit while Office is 32-bit, and that arrangement is normal.
When reinstalling, use the same Office architecture required by your licensed edition and existing Outlook data. If an older add-in or integration requires 32-bit Office, installing a random 64-bit DLL will not solve the compatibility problem. If the exact architecture is unclear, check the installed Office product information or ask the organization that supplied it before changing editions.
Fix 4: Repair Windows components only when broader corruption is present
SFC and DISM are not the primary repair tools for an Office-owned DLL. They repair protected Windows components and the Windows component store; they do not guarantee restoration of an ordinary Office application file.
Use them when other Windows applications also fail, Windows reports component corruption, or Office repair itself reports a system-level problem.
Run DISM
- Open Start.
- Type
Command Prompt. - Select Run as administrator.
- Approve the User Account Control prompt.
- Run:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth
- Wait for the command to finish.
- Restart Windows if requested.
Run System File Checker
Open an administrator Command Prompt again and run:
sfc /scannow
Wait until verification reaches 100 percent. Restart Windows and test Outlook.
Recommended Free Tools
Microsoft recommends running DISM before SFC in its instructions for repairing missing or corrupted Windows system files.
Repeating these commands will not normally restore a missing Office DLL. If they report repairs but Outlook still shows the same error, return to Office Online Repair or reinstall Office.

Fix 5: Check the failing program and Outlook profile
Although addrprsr.dll belongs to the Office ecosystem, the error may appear while another program invokes an old Outlook integration component.
Free tools Windows power users keep installed
One-click scans. No signup required.
Record the executable named in the error window. If the message identifies an old third-party application, repair or reinstall that application as well as Office. Do not assume that a game or unrelated program ships with this Microsoft file unless its own documentation confirms the dependency.
If Outlook opens but hangs, crashes, or behaves abnormally rather than failing during DLL loading, test the Outlook profile separately:
- Open Control Panel.
- Search for Mail.
- Open Mail (Microsoft Outlook).
- Select Show Profiles.
- Select Add.
- Create a temporary profile.
- Set Outlook to prompt for a profile.
- Start Outlook with the new profile.
A corrupt profile or damaged PST/OST file is a separate issue and will not recreate addrprsr.dll. Microsoft’s Outlook troubleshooting guidance covers profile and data-file problems.
Why Windows Features and Device Manager do not fix this file
Windows Optional Features are used for components such as .NET Framework, virtualization, legacy media features, or language features. There is no verified Windows Feature that installs addrprsr.dll.
To inspect Optional Features:
- Open Settings.
- Select Apps > Optional features.
- Review installed features.
Do not add a feature simply because a generic DLL page recommends it.
Device Manager is for hardware drivers. To open it, right-click Start and select Device Manager. It can help when Windows has hardware errors, but updating a display, audio, network, or chipset driver will not normally restore an Office DLL.
If a separate hardware problem requires driver maintenance, Outbyte Driver Updater can scan for driver versions and show what needs attention; the free scan identifies issues, while driver installation requires the full version. It is not required for addrprsr.dll, and Office repair remains the appropriate fix for this error.
What not to do
Do not download addrprsr.dll from a random DLL site
An isolated DLL download may contain the wrong Office build, language, architecture, dependencies, or malicious modifications. Even a genuine file from another computer may not match your installation and can leave the Office installer in an inconsistent state.
The safe sources are:
- Office Quick Repair or Online Repair
- A supported Office reinstall
- Your Microsoft account
- Your organization’s official Office deployment source
- Original installation media for the matching licensed edition
Do not copy the file into System32 or SysWOW64 because a download page recommends it.
Do not install Visual C++, DirectX, or .NET as a targeted fix
addrprsr.dll is identified as an Office component, not a general runtime file. Installing Visual C++ Redistributable, DirectX, or .NET is not a verified solution for this specific error.
Those packages are appropriate only when a separate application explicitly requires them and provides a matching error or installation instruction.
Do not run regsvr32 blindly
Avoid running:
regsvr32 addrprsr.dll
regsvr32 is intended for DLLs that provide registration entry points such as DllRegisterServer, typically COM components. There is no verified Microsoft instruction showing that addrprsr.dll should be registered this way.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsA missing or unloadable Office component should normally be repaired through Office Setup. Registration errors often create a second problem without restoring the original dependency.
When to restore the system or seek support
System Restore is worth considering only if the error began after a recent software change and a restore point exists. Save current work first, then search Windows for System Restore and select Open System Restore. Choose a restore point from before the Office installation changed.
Restore does not replace a proper Office reinstall and may not be available.
Escalate to Microsoft or your organization’s support channel when:
- Quick Repair and Online Repair both fail
- Office reinstall does not restore the expected component
- The file repeatedly disappears
- Antivirus repeatedly quarantines it
- The error names a different executable
- Windows reports disk or component-store failures
- The installation is an old, unsupported Office edition
Provide:
- Windows 10 or Windows 11 version
- Office edition and build
- Whether Office is 32-bit or 64-bit
- The complete error text
- The executable that displays the error
- The path Windows reports for
addrprsr.dll - Recent Office uninstall, update, migration, or antivirus events
- Relevant Event Viewer details
FAQ
Is addrprsr.dll a Windows system file?
No. It is identified as an Outlook Address Parser component associated with Microsoft Office Outlook. It should not normally be installed in the Windows system directories.
Does every version of Office include addrprsr.dll?
No verified Microsoft file manifest establishes that. Public evidence associates it with legacy Office, especially Office 2003-era installations. Do not assume that a current Microsoft 365 installation should contain it.
Is addrprsr.dll 32-bit or 64-bit?
Available public metadata points to a legacy 32-bit Office association, but that does not establish the architecture of every historical build. Match the Office installation rather than guessing from Windows’ architecture.
Should I install Microsoft Visual C++?
Not as a targeted fix. Repair or reinstall Office first. Install a runtime only when a separate application explicitly requires it.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Can I copy addrprsr.dll from another PC?
No. The file may differ by Office generation, architecture, language, dependencies, or installation state. Use Office Repair or a supported reinstall instead.
Why does Windows say the specified module could not be found when the file exists?
The named file may be present while one of its dependencies is missing or incompatible. Check the failing executable and repair the matching Office installation rather than copying another DLL.
Will SFC restore addrprsr.dll?
Usually not. SFC repairs protected Windows files, while addrprsr.dll is an Office application component. Use SFC and DISM only when broader Windows corruption is also suspected.
What is the correct fix?
Close Office, run Quick Repair, then Online Repair if necessary. If repair fails, remove and reinstall the correct Office edition, while checking antivirus quarantine and avoiding downloaded DLL replacements.
