For a general-purpose, beginner-friendly ranking, a BlueStacks guide updated June 11, 2026, puts Chinese and French in S tier; Byzantines, Roman, and British in A; and Egypt, Japanese, and Korean in B. That is a third-party editorial ranking, not an official verdict or a measured win-rate list. The best choice for your account depends on the troop class you use, whether you need progression or combat benefits, and which civilization bonuses are currently available in your game.
Age of Empires Mobile civilization tier list
This ranking uses BlueStacks’ beginner and general-utility framing. The reported bonuses below are in-game values as listed by that guide; they are not evidence that one civilization wins more often. A troop-specific bonus is most useful when it supports the troops and heroes you actually field.

Which civilization should you choose?
For a new or broadly focused account
Chinese and French are the two S-tier recommendations in the BlueStacks general-utility list. Chinese combines an archer bonus with villager capacity and wall durability; French combines cavalry defense with resource exchange and gathering troop defense. Choose between them by the troops you plan to use and the non-combat bonus that better matches your current needs.

For troop-specific play
- Archers: Chinese or British both have a reported +5% archer-defense bonus. Chinese also has villager-capacity and wall-durability bonuses; British adds citadel defense and mill production.
- Cavalry: French and Korean both have a reported +5% cavalry-defense bonus. French adds resource exchange and gathering troop defense, while Korean adds looting-limit and resource-storage protection bonuses.
- Swordsmen: Byzantines and Japanese both have a reported +5% swordsmen-defense bonus. Byzantines adds siege damage and stone gathering; Japanese adds bonuses against player citadels and world tribes.
- Pikemen: Roman and Egypt both have a reported +5% pikemen-defense bonus. Roman adds healing speed and a building-production boost; Egypt adds troop load and gathering troop unit-loss prevention.
These comparisons describe the listed civilization bonuses only. They do not establish that a civilization will outperform another when the rest of an army, its heroes, or the player’s progression differs.
For siege, economy, or defensive needs
Byzantines is the listed option with an all-unit siege-damage bonus. Roman combines healing speed with building production, while British includes player-citadel defense and mill production. French has a resource-exchange bonus, and Chinese has wall durability and added villager capacity. These benefits serve different account needs, so a single tier position cannot decide which is more valuable for you.

Where do Arabs fit?
Arabs are a newer option that the BlueStacks eight-civilization ranking does not include. The official Age of Empires Mobile website features Arabs and describes camel riders as suited to desert warfare. A March 4, 2026 Packsify guide aimed at high spenders places Arabs in S tier and attributes a hospital-capacity increase to the civilization, but that is a separate third-party ranking and does not confirm a complete, current official bonus table.
Because the available sources do not establish Arabs’ full live bonuses or unlock conditions, do not treat their placement in a spender-focused guide as a universal ranking. Check the civilization details in your current game client before choosing them based on a particular bonus.

Why published rankings differ
The BlueStacks list is framed around beginner and general utility. Packsify’s March 2026 spender-focused guide emphasizes endgame alliance and player-versus-player use; it elevates Arabs and French and places Japanese higher than BlueStacks does. Those rankings answer different questions, rather than demonstrating a single objectively best civilization.
Roster snapshots also differ. The Google Play listing, updated September 17, 2026, names Chinese, Romans, French, Byzantines, Egyptians, British, Japanese, and Koreans, and says additional civilizations are set to debut. The official site features Arabs, as does the March 2026 guide. Store and guide pages can lag behind game updates, so verify the available civilizations and their bonuses in the live client.

How to use this list
- Start with your main troop class. A defense bonus for a troop type matters less if you rarely field that class.
- Identify your immediate account need. Compare combat benefits with gathering, production, healing, exchange, storage, or citadel bonuses instead of treating every percentage as interchangeable.
- Decide whether you are optimizing for progression or endgame PvP. The general-utility tier list and spender-focused list use different assumptions.
- Confirm the live details before committing. Check the civilization’s current in-game description, especially for newer options such as Arabs.
No independent win-rate dataset or controlled comparison establishes that a listed civilization is quantitatively superior. Use the tiers as a starting point for matching bonuses to your playstyle, not as a promise of combat results.
