Some of Rockstar’s older games are discounted right now, but the cuts are selective, they vary by storefront, and they are not a catalog-wide sale. The deepest reductions in the captures reviewed for this article were on Steam, where Red Dead Redemption, the Grand Theft Auto III, Vice City and San Andreas Definitive Editions, and Grand Theft Auto IV: The Complete Edition were marked down by half or more. Those figures were captured after September 24, 2026, and prices change without notice, so check the live listing before you buy.
What was discounted on Steam
Valve’s Steam publisher page for Rockstar Games (Steam Rockstar publisher page) showed the following US-store prices in the capture used for this article. Percentage markdowns are calculated from the listed prices and former prices shown on the page.

On the same page, two titles were listed without a markdown: Grand Theft Auto V Enhanced at $29.99 and Red Dead Redemption 2 at $59.99. The fact that some Rockstar titles were cut while others were not is the core of this story. The discounts were applied title by title, not across the publisher’s library.
Rockstar’s own store as a price reference
The Rockstar Store catalog (Rockstar Store catalog) lists prices that are useful for comparison, but they are the publisher’s own prices, not the lowest available anywhere. The captured US-store prices were:

- When federal agents threaten his family, former outlaw John Marston is forced to hunt down the gang of criminals he once called friends.
- Experience Marston’s journey across the sprawling expanses of the American West and Mexico as he fights to bury his blood-stained past in the critically acclaimed adventure.

| Title | Listed price on Rockstar Store | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Grand Theft Auto V | $39.99 | Standard listing; Enhanced is a separate product |
| Red Dead Redemption 2 | $59.99 | Full game |
| Red Dead Redemption | $49.99 | Full game; Steam showed it lower in the same period |
| Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition | $59.99 | Bundle of three titles |
| Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy | $29.99 | Older bundle; not the Definitive Edition |
| Grand Theft Auto IV: Complete Edition | $19.99 | Complete Edition, not the Steam listing at a lower price |
| L.A. Noire | $19.99 | Full game |
| Max Payne 3 | $19.99 | Full game |
| Bully: Scholarship Edition | $14.99 | Scholarship Edition specifically |
Because the two stores sell different editions at different points, a Rockstar Store price and a Steam price should not be compared as if they were the same product.
PlayStation Store: Grand Theft Auto V
The PlayStation Store listing for Grand Theft Auto V (PlayStation Store GTA V listing) identifies a digital PS4 and PS5 version priced at $39.99 in the US capture. The same page showed a 50% offer on GTA Online standalone content, but that offer ended September 24, 2026 and should not be treated as current. Console prices are also not comparable with PC prices unless both platforms are labeled.

Before you buy: check the edition and platform
Rockstar’s catalog contains several versions of the same franchise, and the price you see depends heavily on which one is selected.
- Confirm the platform first. A PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 listing, a PC listing on Steam, and a Rockstar Store listing can carry different prices in the same week.
- Read the product title in full. “Grand Theft Auto V” and “Grand Theft Auto V Enhanced” are separate products, as are “Grand Theft Auto IV” and “Grand Theft Auto IV: The Complete Edition.”
- Check whether the listing is a full game, an online-only product, or a bundle. Red Dead Online, for example, is listed separately from Red Dead Redemption.
- Compare the former price and the markdown shown on the page with the price you pay. A “reduced from” figure is the store’s own reference, not an independent price history.
- Look for a sale end date on the listing. Several captured offers carried end dates, and one expired before the captures were reviewed.
GTA+ membership discount
Rockstar Support describes a separate, membership-based discount in its article on purchasing titles with the GTA+ membership discount (Rockstar Support, GTA+ membership discount, updated December 2, 2025). According to that article, members receive a 20% discount on digital purchases of games in the rotating GTA+ catalog. The discount has these limits:
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsRank #3
- UK PSN account may be required for any online features
- It applies only to games that are in the rotating catalog while they remain included.
- It applies only on the platform where the membership was purchased.
- It cannot be combined with other discounts.
GTA VI timing and what the discounts do not show
Take-Two Interactive announced on June 24, 2026 that Grand Theft Auto VI will launch on November 19, 2026, with a $79.99 standard edition and a $99.99 Ultimate Edition (Take-Two announcement, June 24, 2026). Rockstar Support’s GTA VI pre-order article, updated June 26, 2026, lists the PlayStation Store, Xbox Store, and Rockstar Store as pre-order channels, and says select retailers and third-party storefronts may offer the game depending on country (Rockstar Support, GTA VI pre-order details). The physical version contains a download code rather than a disc.
The timing is context, not evidence of a discount. None of the captures reviewed show GTA VI itself on sale. The markdowns above apply to older Rockstar titles.

For scale, Take-Two has reported more than 470 million units sold-in across the Grand Theft Auto series in 2026. That is a series-wide figure. It is not a sales total for Grand Theft Auto V or any other single game.
In short, the discounts are real but narrow. Buyers who want a specific older Rockstar game should compare the exact edition across the stores that sell it, and treat any former price shown on the page as a reference rather than a guarantee of the lowest price.
