To unlock Aila Bren, Star Wars Outlaws’ Slicer Expert, finish the main quest New Tricks and follow the Slicer intel that begins at Makal’s Gambling Parlor in Mirogana, Toshara. The quest sends Kay to Aila’s contact in the Crimson Dawn district, then on an Imperial-base job. Complete it to earn the Slicing Kit and unlock Aila’s abilities.
How to start The Slicer quest
Complete the main quest New Tricks first. The Slicer intel then appears in your journal. Travel to Makal’s Gambling Parlor in Mirogana, Toshara, and listen for the underworld rumor that starts the lead to Aila. Prima Games’ walkthrough and Game8’s guide describe this starting point.

Find Aila’s contact in the Crimson Dawn district
Follow the intel to the Crimson Dawn district in Mirogana. Dot Esports’ walkthrough directs players to listen on the left side of the bar, where the contact is in a restricted area. The guide notes that your Crimson Dawn reputation affects how easily you can enter: favorable standing helps with access, while poor standing means you may need to use stealth.
Complete the Imperial Forward Base job
The main job is to obtain an Imperial Code Sequencer and help Aila at the Imperial Forward Base. The broad objective sequence is to meet her at the base, attach a device to the rooftop antenna, disable the base’s defenses, escape, and return to Makal’s Gambling Parlor to collect the Slicing Kit from her contact.

Choose an approach that suits your run
Prima Games recommends a loud approach when obtaining the Code Sequencer, while Game8 says the defense-disabling portion does not require stealth. Those are guide-specific suggestions, not mandatory routes; the objective is to complete the job and get back to the contact with the kit.
What the Slicing Kit unlocks
Completing The Slicer unlocks Aila Bren as an Expert and awards the Slicing Kit. Game8 describes the kit as allowing Kay to connect to advanced devices that do not have terminals. Aila’s Expert abilities become available through this unlock.

Advanced Slicing Practice: separate follow-up intel
After Aila contacts Kay following The Slicer, a separate intel entry called Advanced Slicing Practice becomes available. Game8’s September 2024 guide says it leads to a terminal and barrier in Mirogana. That guide also reported a journal-state issue in which the intel could remain incomplete or be bypassed without blocking progression of Aila’s abilities. This is a third-party report from September 2024; whether that issue persists on current patches is not established.
