Those are starting hypotheses, not tested rankings: class balance changes, and the current roster and skill details should be checked in game.
How to choose a class
Think about what you want to do in ordinary fights and what responsibility you want in a group. A role-based class guide offers useful descriptions, but they are unofficial characterizations rather than official promises about difficulty or performance.
- Range: Do you want to fight up close or attack from a distance?
- Damage style: Do you prefer steady attacks, or are you comfortable setting up and timing stronger bursts?
- Solo comfort: Would you rather have a forgiving, durable approach or rely on positioning and avoiding damage?
- Group responsibility: Are you looking to tank, heal, support allies, or focus on damage?
- Execution: How much do you want to manage rotations, positioning, or other class-specific mechanics?
Try the playstyle that appeals to you rather than treating a tier list as a lasting answer. Balance updates can change damage, cooldowns, survivability, and group needs, so recommendations can become stale.
Beginner-friendly starting points
An unofficial beginner guide recommends Gladiator for durability and simple combos, and Ranger for safer ranged combat. A separate unofficial class guide describes Ranger as approachable, Templar as a defensive group tank, Gladiator as an aggressive frontline bruiser who can tank, Cleric as a dedicated healer, and Chanter as a utility and support option. These labels can help you narrow your choices, but they are not measured difficulty ratings or guarantees of how a class performs.

Consider the new Brawler option
NCSOFT’s July 6, 2026 update announced Brawler, a Gauntlet-wielding class. Basic attacks and active skills generate Rage; reaching the required gauge threshold activates Rampage. It adds another melee, frontline-flavored option, but the update does not compare its learning curve with other classes.
The same unofficial beginner guide says factions can play every class. Because the current roster and faction rules have not been confirmed by a current official roster page here, check character creation in game rather than relying on older class lists.

Build your character as you progress
Character development is more than selecting a class. The level cap and skill systems below are patch-specific: NCSOFT’s July 6, 2026 update stated a level cap of 50 and that Stigma skills could be enhanced up to level 25. Later updates may change these figures or systems, so check the latest patch notes and in-game interface.
Use gear and stats as role-based starting points
The unofficial beginner guide advises equipping upgrades as they become available and gives HP for tanks, attack for damage dealers, and healing for support roles as examples of role-related stats. Treat that as broad orientation, not a verified stat priority: the available sources do not establish current stat weights or quantify the gains. Read your character’s current skill and item tooltips, and adjust to the role you actually play.

Know the progression systems before changing gear
An unofficial field guide last updated October 3, 2026, describes several systems worth recognizing as you advance:
- Empyrean Traces: the guide says these can be converted into skill points and amulet upgrades at a regional Monolith.
- Essence Extraction: the guide describes this as a way to feed crafting.
- Daevanion: the guide presents this as a mid-game layer for investing in skills.
That guide also cautions against discarding gear before checking whether it can be used for inheritance or conversion. These are unofficial descriptions, not a verified step-by-step procedure; inspect the current interface and item rules before committing resources.

Build for your play, not a supposed universal optimum
The available guides do not establish reliable current skill rotations, numerical stat weights, or optimal builds for each class. Use in-game tooltips to understand what skills do, then consult a current, dated class resource if you want a specific rotation or endgame setup. Reassess advice after balance patches rather than assuming an older build still applies.

The beginner guide also recommends learning target swaps and aerial repositioning, and not overlooking quests, buffs, or food. These are general guide suggestions rather than measured performance findings, but they provide useful habits to explore as you learn your class. Focus first on understanding your skills and staying effective in the role you chose; refine stats and skill investments as you gain experience and see what the current game rewards.
